How Far to Stand From the Golf Ball?

Benchmarking the basics. How far should we stand away from the golf ball? That is a question we get all the time. One of the variables in golf is that all the golf clubs have different lengths to them, so of course we should stand different distances from the golf ball. Well here is how you figure it out each and every time for you perfectly.

Examine the Club Shaft

The golf clubs when they are on the ground correctly, with the lie angle presented to the ball the right way, that is where the sand wedge should be, here is where my 5-iron is. What we find when you do that the shaft of clubs come off of the ground to the same spot. That happens to be between 30 and 30 two inches depending on the length of the golf club shaft if they are over length, men’s or lady’s clubs, but all the clubs come to the same place. Your job is to take the same posture. What happens is that the measuring instrument for distance from the ball is actually the golf club.

Keep the Same Posture with Each Club

If you go back to one of our previous segments on finding your correct posture you are going to bend from your hip joints with your hips pulled back and your arms hanging down from your shoulder sockets, your weight is going to be on the arch of your foot where it is easier to tap your heels off the ground instead of your toes. You will find that you will be in the exact posture that you want to be in for every golf club in your bag. You have the same posture that you presenting yourself to the ball and what happens is the golf club becomes the measuring instrument for how far the ball is away from you. Getting these basics right really makes the game simpler for you. All of these basics are before you ever swing the golf club.
