Tour B X vs. Chrome Tour X: Two Balls, Two Superpowers
One ball is longer, one stops faster. Here’s how they compare where it matters.

The Bridgestone Tour B X and Callaway Chrome Tour X are both new for 2026, and they both have their unique superpowers.
Bridgestone claims the new Tour B lineup is a whopping 8.7 yards longer than its predecessor. That’s a bold claim.
Meanwhile, Callaway says the new Chrome Tour X is designed to provide maximum ball speed off the tee along with a mid-to-high spin profile through the bag.
Instead of trusting the claims at face value, we tested both balls firsthand. So, which claims have merit, and which ball is a better match for your game? It’s Bridgestone Tour B X vs. Callaway Chrome Tour X.
How We Test Golf Balls
We tested both the 2026 Callaway Chrome Tour X and the Bridgestone Tour B X using our standardized golf ball testing protocol on the SkyTrak ST Max launch monitor.
Our human testing standards include strict swing speed and shot quality benchmarks. We test each ball with driver, 7-iron, and a 50-yard shot, then assess performance in the categories that matter most to the majority of players: distance, stopping power, accuracy, and consistency.
We evaluate standard deviation to get a sense of each ball’s consistency. Standard deviation shows how tightly shots cluster, and lower numbers in the data mean more consistent shots on the course.
Because we test with human swings, not robots, our results highlight the performance differences real golfers can expect to see on the course, not microscopic variances under perfect conditions. Of course, individual results may vary.

Bridgestone Tour B X

It would be easy to dismiss Bridgestone’s claims of 8.7 yards longer as more of the same marketing hype that the golf equipment industry has been notorious for over the last several decades. But then, Chris Gotterup used it to win not once, but twice on the PGA Tour in the first few weeks after its debut, so there must be something to it, right?
At the very least, that confirms for anyone who had doubts that the 2026 Tour B X delivers the whole package, from tee to green, rather than simply adding distance at the cost of control and greenside spin.
The Tour B X is part of Bridgestone’s four-ball Tour B lineup. Bridgestone guides players with driver swing speeds of 105 MPH or faster to the Tour B X, although our test was conducted at speeds significantly slower than that, and still yielded impressive results.

Callaway Chrome Tour X

Chrome Tour X is also a urethane-covered ball, but unlike Tour B X, it’s a 4-piece ball that promises a higher spin profile through the bag. Higher spin appeals to players who want more shot-shaping workability, more stopping power with full shots into greens, and better greenside control.

Both balls performed very well with driver compared to our growing database of 2026 golf balls, but this is where the Tour B X shined brightest.

Tour B X |
Both Bridgestone and Callaway claim fast ball speeds from driver with their 2026 lineups, and the Tour B X and Chrome Tour X both delivered.
While the Tour B X edged Chrome Tour X in ball speed and distance in our test, both landed near the top of the charts overall in our testing.
In addition to winning the head-to-head distance battle, Tour B X was more consistent in our testing as well. Standard deviations for ball speed, distance, and spin were all a tick lower with Tour B X, and it never seemed to stray too far from SkyTrak’s virtual centerline stripe bisecting the fairway.
The takeaway here is that if off-the-tee performance is your top priority, Tour B X is the head-to-head winner. However, Chrome Tour X easily outperforms most other balls in our driver testing, and we haven’t even gotten to its real superpower yet.

If you want stopping power with your irons, you want Chrome Tour X.
Even with launch angle, apex and descent angles virtually identical, Chrome Tour X stopped noticeably quicker than Tour B X in our test. That’s thanks to the higher spin profile of Chrome Tour X.
Promises made, promises kept.
The raw spin numbers themselves aren’t as important as the difference between the two, and how they compare to other 2026 balls. Chrome Tour X is a comparatively higher-spinning ball based on our 7-iron test, but Tour B X is actually a tick above the average itself.

50‑Yard Wedge Shot Comparison
Tour B X and Chrome Tour X proved neck-and-neck in our 50-yard test. Both churned out elite spin and really good stopping power.
They did, however, take slightly different paths to get there. Tour B X launched a couple degrees lower with a touch more spin, a combo that discerning better players often gravitated toward. However, I doubt most players could see the difference with the naked eye.
