Chrome Tour X finished 23rd of 43 balls in our distance test — a middle-of-the-pack result for a ball marketed on speed. Of course, tour balls typically prioritize other things ahead of distance, then try to add distance back in from there.

Chrome Tour X averaged 241.6 yards in our driver test, backed by a top-5 ball speed in our entire field: 139.0 mph. But a low 12.4-degree launch and a sub-optimal 19.8-yard apex kept the total distance from reaching its potential.

Players with faster swing speeds will see the ball speed number climb on its own. Plus, faster swings also tend to produce a higher launch and apex than the 19.8 yards we saw here. That added height multiplies the return on every extra mph of ball speed compared to what we saw in our test.

Stopping Power is where Chrome Tour X separates itself. A 9.3 stopping power score is 2nd-best of the 43 balls we've tested. Just 7.1 yards of rollout on our 7-iron test, with a steep 43.4-degree descent angle, means you can stop shots quickly on the greens.

That's a top-tier result. A 25.0-yard apex and 5,398 RPM of 7-iron spin give Chrome Tour X the trajectory and spin to check hard on firm greens. If stopping power is a top priority for you, Chrome Tour X is one of the best balls we've tested.

Chrome Tour X’s short-game performance mirrors its iron strength. A 9.2 wedge control score — the 3rd-best in our test — is the result of 7,309 RPM of 50-yard spin and just 1.8 yards of rollout.

A 33.9-degree launch angle from 50 yards is on the higher side of our field, which pairs with that spin rate to produce a steep, soft-landing shot. Combined with the stopping power result, Chrome Tour X's case is simple: inside 150 yards, this ball spins and stops quickly. That puts maximum control in the player’s hands, which is what a tour ball should do.

Accuracy is another strong category for Chrome Tour X, finishing 8th of 43 balls. Driver dispersion averaged 7.8 yards offline with 134.8 RPM of sidespin, and iron accuracy was noticeably tighter, just 3.1 yards offline with 110.6 RPM of sidespin.

That gap between driver and iron accuracy is normal — it shows up across most of the balls we test — but Chrome Tour X's iron number stands out. Combined with the stopping power and wedge scores, this is a ball that rewards good ball-striking from 175 yards and in.

At $57 a dozen, Chrome Tour X is at the top of the pricing scale for 2026, and the value score reflects that. The 7.7 out of 10 is 15th of 43 balls and accounts for its performance and price compared to the entire 43-ball field.

The math is straightforward: you're not paying $57 for distance. You're paying for a top-3 short game ball. Whether that trade makes sense depends on where your tendencies cost you strokes on the course. If too much run out on short game and approach shots is an issue, Chrome Tour X could be worth every penny.

Chrome Tour X is for the player whose scoring damage happens inside 150 yards, not off the tee. If you already hit it far enough and you're looking for a ball that stops on a dime and holds its line into the green, Chrome Tour X is one of the best options we've tested at any price.

If you’re chasing raw distance, it's a tougher sell. Chrome Tour X isn't going to out-drive the field on its own. But for the player who values control in the last 150 yards more than the first 250, our test data makes a strong case for Chrome Tour X.
