Video Golf Tip | Putting Line Practice Drill

Here is a wonderful device that you can use to help you improve your putting. It is just a piece of string that I have with two plastic rods on the side, you can even use pencils if you want. What I am going to do here is going to help me to do several things that are very important. First I am going to place a line on my golf ball like this. Now I am going to put this down under the string so that the line is right in the middle of the string. What that is going to do is it is going to help identify if my eye line is directly over the golf ball. When I take my setup and posture my eyes should be right in the middle of that line. That string is intersecting that line so I should see half of the golf ball. If I am over here too far away from the ball I am not going to see it with the right perspective. That helps you establish a correct, repetitive set up with your eye line to the ball. Two, I have set this thing up a little bit to the right because this green breaks a little to the left. This is going to make me make a putting stroke that I can swing down my intended putting line which is not necessarily the hole. The ball is going to break at some point into the hole but it is very important to be able to hit your ball down the target line and then allow the contour of the green to be able to make the ball go into the hole. The other wonderful thing about this is that this is not strapped on to your putter, it is not on to you, you have to freely make a putting stroke and you are getting wonderful feedback on how the line looks, what the direction of the putt should be and you can start to learn how to read greens effectively. This is what it looks like. That came out ok. Through more practice with this it will really help you to identify how to read greens, how to control your ball speed, how to see the line appropriately and hit it down the right line to be able to knock it in the hole. Give it a try.
