Course Reviews

Played Reynolds Course on 28JUN15. Not worth the $33 weekend rate. Course is not in good condition and not just from the winter kill experienced by most courses in the TRIAD. Gas carts are pretty beat up, and as a BTW, the cart guys act like petty bureaucrats and they are doing you favor letting a cart out to a player.

I consider this my home course. It is by far my favorite. Unfortunately, this year the weather was tough on it. The winter was so cold followed by a summer with very little rain, high temperatures, and high humidity. That "perfect storm" led to the loss of some of the fairways and some of the greens, especially the ones on the back nine. With the cooler temperatures now, the conditions are improving. The grounds crew are working hard to bring it back, even going so far as to close it for a few days to do maintenance. I look forward to playing it towards the end of the month. They should have it back to where it belongs by then.
The front nine is fairly open after you get past the first tee. The back nine is a good test of golf. It's more of a target kind of golf. You'll hit most of the clubs in your bag and will score well if you don't try to overpower it.

The fairways were a little rough earlier in the season but after talking with the greens crew, I learned it was due to the hard winter we had that killed the grass..but most fairways are back to normal with the exception of one on the back 9, I forget which one, but you cant drive on it anyways and most of the sod is coming back strong, so just another week or so...besides that this course rocks! you cant beat 26 bucks to play all day! The pace can be slow around the senior golfers (especially the senior ladies..who yell at me to hurry up so they can hack their shots into the rough some more haha)

Plyed this course this weekend and it's AWFUL shape. Clearly, they are struggling to keep fairways alive and around the greens and tee boxes wasn't much better. I've always enjoyed Tanglewood but stick with Champions course. This isn't a value at any price until they put in some work on the conditions. SHAMEFUL COURSE CONDITIONS!!!

one of the toughest courses around. makes you ponder giving up the game if you have a bad day shewww. fun when you are on! great value. best public course for $$.

This is Old Faithful in my opinion the best track in W-S and for the months special ride all day for $25.00 cant beat it. The Range Marshalls are a pain in the butt sometimes always checking if your a all dayer but other than that Great course. 5/5

Best value in Winston in my opinion. You can play it for as little as $20, the layout is good, it's in average to above average shape, and it's challenging but not silly. I prefer it to the Championship course personally because you don't have to keep banging it out straight and long with the driver... it takes some nice placement shots to score well and you can definitely score on this course!

Highly recommended for all handicaps and those that want to play a nice course for a cheap rate. Only downside is that it does get a bit crammed at times out there.

Good course. Great value!

Although not as heavily bunkered and as long as the championship course, it's still a challenge. Most holes are tight and tree-lined. Long hitters can hit fairway woods or hybrids on a lot of the holes. Keeping the ball in play is the name of the game on this course. Conditioning isn't as good as the Championship, but is better than lots of other courses in this area. A good value, b/c you can play all day during the week for around $25.00. If you're walking, it's a 2/3 mile hike from the clubhouse to the 10th tee.

I love the Reynolds course. If the two course were the same price I'd still play Reynolds. Number one still kills me as I always hit driver off the tee and ALWAYS find the trees. No 7 is a beauty. Nice tee shot = good eagle oppt. Hole eleven is one of the prettiest holes Ive played in NC. Beautiful course, well maintained, nice greens, and all you can play winter rates make Tanglewood a great place to spend a day. Drawback is prices in the grill. You pay to park, they should give you a break for a snack.

Very good Course!

I have played here many times and this is simply a gem.
The only downside is that so many people play this course that sometimes the green get a little scared up due to people not repairing ball marks. All in all this is one of the best values in the state.

Great Course

One of the best public golf courses arround! The course is as nice as FCC or any nice county club! And it can play long if you are good enough to play from the gold tees!By the way the PGA champianship was played here about 20 years aso and is the first choice for back up of the GGo tourniment! Great corce but out of the two at tanglewood the champianship cource is a little better!

Not bad

I've played here a few times visiting a friend. It's a pretty nice track, and a good value for the area. Fairly short and tight - long hitters can probably leave their driver in the trunk.
