Is any brand in golf riding a faster rise than Payntr Golf?

Consider this: Payntr dropped its debut golf shoe in 2021. By 2026, their shoes stole the show at the Masters. That seems ahead of schedule even for the most ambitious brands.

I just finished testing the new Payntr Reserve Classic SL, the fifth Payntr Golf shoe I’ve put through its paces.

So what’s powering Payntr’s charge? In my experience, the throughline is Payntr’s ability to blend performance, comfort, and style.

Here’s what the latest drop delivers.

How We Tested Payntr Reserve Classic SL

I put the Payntr Reserve Classic SL through our published golf shoe testing process, meaning our ratings for comfort, traction, waterproofing, style and value are based on walking 36 holes on the course.

I tested the Payntr Reserve Classic SL during my first two rounds of 2026, carrying my bag for both. Early-season conditions brought the muddiest rounds I’ll play in all year, wet turf on virtually every shot, and extra thick rough throughout. It also marked the first rounds I’d walked 18 in more than four months, which gave me an excellent gauge of how well the shoes absorbed the wear of a full round on foot.

Payntr Reserve Classic SL Scorecard

Pros:

  • Lightweight: 386g is the second-lightest of 20+ shoes we’ve tested

  • Comfort & Energy Return: Feet and body felt fresh after each loop

  • Style: Clean, minimal style has wide appeal

  • Easy Maintenance: Like-new look after post-round wipe-down despite trekking muddy conditions

  • Value: Competitors that deliver similar comfort and performance typically cost over $200

Cons:

  • Waterproof Warranty: Waterproof+ label does not have a specified term; unclear how long the waterproof protection is guaranteed

  • Breathability: Minimal ventilation could make this a warm wear during peak summer months, though I only tested during cool spring rounds.

Best Golf Shoes for Walking: Early 2026 Edition

Comfort & Fit: 9/10

The Reserve Classic SL has a few things working in its favor in the comfort department. I’ll start with the least obvious: its weight. I’ve worn lightweight shoes, but it’s rare that I notice a shoe feeling lightweight while I’m wearing it. However, that’s exactly what happened when I tested these.

Of course, the construction inside the shoe – the stuff that Payntr is known for – helps, too. Wearing these straight out of the box, there was no break-in period or pain points. Just a well-balanced blend of cushioning, support, and energy return.

As far as sizing, Payntr shoes typically run a touch big if anything. I certainly wouldn’t size down if I were buying a new pair today, but if you are truly in between sizes depending on the brand, take that into consideration.

One of the joys of golf in the modern era is that you don’t need spikes to get optimal traction on the course.

The Reserve Classic SL is proof of that.

I put them through what I can almost guarantee will be the muddiest, slipperiest rounds I’ll play all year, and they were up to the task every step of the way.

Waterproof: 8/10

In my on-course experience, the Reserve Classic SL waterproofing was flawless. However, Payntr’s official Waterproof+ label doesn’t offer a term guarantee.

As far as I’m concerned, a waterproof warranty does two things. First, it gives the consumer recourse in the event the waterproofing does fail. But more importantly, it gives a pretty telling clue as to how long the manufacturer expects the shoe to perform.

That’s not to say Payntr doesn’t have confidence in its waterproof technology. The process of testing and validating waterproofing abilities is neither quick nor cheap. Keep in mind that Payntr released its first golf shoe in 2021, and its first waterproof shoe hit the market in fall of 2024. However, if there’s one area where Payntr is still catching up to some of the top competition, this is it.

The Reserve Classic SL is virtually all white, but somehow it works. It’s clean and traditional, but you’d never mistake it for anything but a modern golf shoe.

Beyond the classic black and white options, Payntr also offers a “Blaze” style, where Payntr puts bright salmon-pink accents on the sole and heel.

Value: 9/10

I actually didn’t know the price of the Reserve Classic SL when I tested them. After 36 holes, I assumed they were somewhere around $200. That’s what most golf shoes that perform this well cost, anyways.

Instead, they set you back just $140.

Sure, you can get golf shoes for less, but I’ve never tested a better performing golf shoe that costs less.

Who Are They For?

I’ve heard that you buy shoes with your heart, not your head. But in my experience with the Payntr Reserve Classic SL, you don’t have to sacrifice performance to get style. It satisfies the heart and head.

These shoes passed the performance test, the style test, and the value test, and that’s why I think they’ll appeal to a big crowd, including:

  • Players seeking a comfortable shoe for walking in all types of conditions;
  • Players who want a sturdy, spikeless waterproof shoe;
  • Players who are drawn to the style will not be disappointed by the performance.

The one type of player who may hesitate? That would be the one who only employs one pair of golf shoes at a time. If that’s you, consider all the extremes – hot, dry, cold, wet – you play in each year. You may prefer something more breathable.

After five Payntr shoes, the Reserve Classic SL is one of the best we’ve tested. At $140, it’s hard to argue with.
