Best Golf Shoes for Walking: Early 2026 Edition
From spikeless to spiked, waterproof to all-day — the best walking shoes for every round

Walking 18 holes should be a joy, not a grind. But the wrong golf shoes can make it feel like a marathon.
I’ve tested dozens of golf shoes over the years, walking in some of the best (and worst) models on the market.
This Early 2026 guide cuts through the noise and highlights shoes that actually make walking the course enjoyable, based on real testing.
Whether you prioritize comfort, weight, traction, or all-day versatility, these are the best golf shoes for walking this season.

How We Test Golf Shoes
We personally life-test every golf shoe we review. Some of the shoes featured in this roundup are based on research and golfer feedback rather than our own testing.
We clearly mark the shoes we’ve tested as “Life Tested” so you know which ones we’ve tried first-hand.

Best Overall Golf Shoe for Walking: TRUE OG3 Pro

CHECK TRUE
CHECK AMAZON
Profile: Spikeless
Waterproof: 2 years
Weight: 376g
Pros:
- Lightest pair we’ve tested
- 2 year waterproof warranty
- Aggressive spikeless outsole provides ideal stability
Why it wins
In our testing, the TRUE OG3 Pro wasn’t just well-rounded, it dominated virtually every category we test for. It’s the lightest golf shoe on this list, scored a perfect 10 for comfort, and delivers a 2-year waterproof warranty. That’s tough to beat if you want the best golf shoe for walking.
On-course performance
The OG3 Pro’s spikeless outsole is fierce enough to keep you grounded through wet spring and fall rounds. The breathable construction, meanwhile, is cool enough to wear them throughout the hot summer rounds.
Bottom line
If I could only own one pair of golf shoes to handle the wettest, driest, hottest, coldest, and toughest walks of the season, it would be the TRUE OG3 Pro. [Full TRUE OG3 Pro review]
Payntr Eighty Seven SC: Best Spiked

CHECK PAYNTR
CHECK GOLF GALAXY
Discount Code (10% OFF at Payntr): GOLFLINK
Profile: Spiked
Waterproof: Yes
Weight: 413g
Pros:
- Payntr’s signature comfort plus waterproof construction
- Spiked outsole for tour-level stability
- Sleek style with design input from Jason Day
Why it wins
Payntr golf shoes have been known for comfort since Day 1. The Eighty Seven SC adds waterproof construction with a spiked profile that results in tour-proven stability.
On course performance
I tested the Eighty Seven SC in dicey, spring conditions to gauge not only comfort for walking, but their ability to handle wet, muddy, and hilly terrain. From toe to heel, they passed with flying colors.
Bottom line
With style input from Jason Day, high comfort marks, waterproof construction and premium stability, the Payntr Eighty Seven SC delivers it all. [Full Payntr Eighty Seven SC review]
Heathlander: Best Classic-Style Walking Shoe

CHECK HEATHLANDER
Profile: Spikeless
Waterproof: No
Weight: 481g
Pros:
- Classic style with pebbled leather upper
- Superior comfort for walking
- Excellent stability
Why it wins
The Heathlander golf shoe is a hybrid between a traditional, classic-looking golf shoe and today’s made-for-walking styles that could pass for running shoes or sneakers. They package the classic looks with modern comfort.
On-course performance
I took the Heathlander golf shoes straight out of the cardboard-free box and wore them on the course for three consecutive rounds, and never had a break-in period. No blisters, soreness, no post-round fatigue. The 9mm tread gives this “spikeless” profile the stability you’d expect from a spiked shoe.
Heathlander doesn’t label these shoes as “waterproof,” though. When I asked co-founder Teddy Lynn why not, he explained that because the brand only launched in 2024, they’re simply too young to make that guarantee. While he’s confident the shoes would pass waterproof testing, the investment required hasn’t been the company’s top priority yet.
Bottom line
Heathlander golf shoes bring a unique style to the category without sacrificing comfort or stability. [Full Heathlander Golf Shoe review]
Payntr Sport Classic LE: Best Waterproof

CHECK PAYNTR
Discount Code (10% OFF at Payntr): GOLFLINK
Profile: Spikeless
Waterproof: Yes
Weight: 408g
Pros:
- Classic, minimalist style
- Waterproof+
- Excellent comfort
- Lower price than many alternatives
Why they win
The Payntr Sport Classic LE is the rare waterproof golf shoe that still feels light, flexible, and genuinely walkable. It offers waterproof protection without the stiffness or weight that usually comes with it.
On-course performance
In our test, the Payntr Sport Classic LE delivered one of the best blends of comfort and traction of any waterproof shoe we’ve tested. The upper feels more like a trainer than a traditional waterproof shell. Traction held up on all turf conditions and the cushioning never wavered during our roughly 11 miles of on-course testing.
Bottom line
The Payntr Sport Classic LE were inspired by trainers. If you want waterproof golf shoes with the comfort of an all-day shoe and a clean, minimal style, these need to be a top consideration. [Full Payntr Sport Classic LE review]
Pluto 1: Best All Day

CHECK PLUTO
Profile: Spikeless
Waterproof: No
Weight: 457g
Pros:
- Comfort lives up to the hype
- Versatile style and plenty of colors to choose from
- Great for warm and dry golf conditions
Why they win
You won’t find an aggressive outsole or waterproof warranty on the Pluto 1s. Built as an all-day golf shoe, they’re perfect for walking the course in ideal (warm and dry) conditions, and doing so in style.
On-course performance
Pluto claims these are the most comfortable shoes in golf, and while I can’t say that no other shoe is as comfortable as these, I also can’t identify another shoe that beats the Pluto 1 head-to-head in the comfort department.
Bottom line
The more I wear the Pluto 1s for golf, the more I end up wearing them for everyday life. They transition seamlessly off the course, which is why they’re our pick as the best all-day golf shoe for walking. [Full PLUTO 1 review]
TRUE Ascent PNWProof: Most Versatile

CHECK TRUE
Profile: Spikeless
Waterproof: 1 year
Weight: 383g
Pros:
- Lightweight
- Laminated upper is waterproof without sacrificing flexibility
- Comfortable for any outdoor activity, not just golf
Why they win
After trekking everything but the golf course in them, I’ve determined that the TRUE Ascent PNWProof are the best golf shoes for people who don’t like golf shoes. The lightweight build and waterproof laminated upper handles everything you throw at it without sacrificing flexibility.
On-course performance
Unlike the other golf shoes we rate and review, we did not test the Ascent on the golf course. These stand out more for what they bring off the course than their on-course performance.
The soft upper is what you would expect from a running shoe, and they’re very comfortable overall.
From a pure golf perspective, the Ascent’s outsole is third-tier. It’s not a spiked profile (Tier 1), and it doesn’t boast an aggressive spikeless tread (Tier 2). While I didn’t test these on a golf course, I did spend hours hitting golf shots in these shoes, albeit indoors on a mat. Rest assured they offer all the stability you need for a golf swing.
Bottom line
One of only two shoes on this list weighing under 400g, the TRUE Ascent PNWProof appeals to golfers who want a comfortable shoe for walking the course and whatever other outdoor adventures they seek. [Full TRUE Ascent PNWProof review]

Editor's Picks
I haven’t had a chance to walk in every promising golf shoe for 2026 yet. My Editor’s Picks below are based on brand reputation, design, materials, and early feedback.
I’ll add full testing notes and scores in the Summer 2026 update for any additional shoes that I test first-hand using our published golf shoe testing guidelines.
PUMA IGNITE ELEVATE 2

CHECK PUMA
CHECK GOLF GALAXY
CHECK AMAZON
Profile: Spikeless
Waterproof: 1 Year
Why it’s here:
- Previous editions of this shoe that I’ve tested proved to be some of my all-time favorites for walking
- IGNITE foam is super comfortable
- Better value than most competitors
The PUMA IGNITE ELEVATE 2 gives golfers a reliable spikeless option that costs less than most of the competition while delivering PUMA’s signature comfort and a 1-year waterproof warranty. That’s an enticing package, all things considered.
The previous edition of IGNITE ELEVATE was one of the first golf shoes I tested years ago, and it’s still one of my top two or three favorite pairs to wear when walking the course on a warm day.
Skechers Slip-Ins Waterproof Flow SI

CHECK SKECHERS
CHECK GOLF GALAXY
Profile: Spikeless
Waterproof: 1 Year
Why it’s here:
- Previous Skechers GO GOLF Slip-Ins performed very well in our testing
- Slip-in is a desirable feature that most competitors don’t offer
- Blend of waterproof construction, breathable and flexible body, and quarter-inch spikeless outsole provides an elite total package
Like the PUMA shoes mentioned above, I tested a previous edition of Skechers GO GOLF slip-ins, and it was one of the most surprising performances of any shoe I’ve tested. Skechers has a proven ability to create a waterproof shoe that moves with your feet. That means none of its signature comfort is sacrificed.
While they’re comfortable enough to wear all day, the slip-in convenience makes it easy to change shoes in the parking lot before and after your round.
FootJoy Flex XP

CHECK AMAZON
Profile: Spikeless
Waterproof: 1 Year
Why it’s here:
- Great value from one of the most reputable brands on the market
- All day comfort
In addition to being lauded for the comfort FootJoy is known for, the Flex XP are getting excellent feedback from golfers walking the course, particularly in dry, summer conditions. At around $100, it’s a great value from a trustworthy brand.
Walk the Walk
They’ve said golf is a long walk spoiled. Based on your on-course performance, that could be the case, but in this day and age, there’s no excuse to let your footwear spoil your day on the course.
If the lineup of early 2026 golf footwear is any indication, it’s as good of a time as ever to find great golf shoes for walking. We’ll continue testing new golf shoes and come back with a Summer 2026 update.
