Exploring Pete Dye’s Best Public Courses
Pete Dye has long been seen as one of golf’s greatest course designers, with courses spread throughout America and the world. Dye has seen his designs host major championships, and his course at TPC Sawgrass is home to The Players Championship. Dye helped bring golf away from a purely penal form of golf and instead used smart routing to force accuracy and also variety. For his work, Dye was admitted into the World Golf Hall of Fame. Best Robert Trent Jones, Sr. Courses You Can Play
Robert Trent Jones, Sr. is widely regarded as one of golf's most influential course designers. Over his lifetime, Jones built more than 500 courses across the world, leading to the quip that "the sun never sets on a Robert Trent Jones course." Jones' courses have hosted major championships and continue to host PGA Tour and European Tour events, and he is one of a small number of course architects to be included in the World Golf Hall of Fame. Today, his children Robert Trent Jones, Jr. and Rees Jones are well known for their design skills as well, building on the immense legacy of their father. Farmers Insurance Open History
The 2019 Farmers Insurance Open begins at the iconic Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, California. The field includes reigning champion Jason Day, 7-time winner Tiger Woods, Jordan Spieth, Patrick Reed and Rory McIlroy. The tournament is the beginning of the PGA Tour’s “West Coast Swing,” as the Tour stays primarily in California for the next month. The Farmers Insurance Open has been played at beloved Torrey Pines Golf Course since 1968, and it has become an integral part of the story of the tournament.
