Lake Tahoe is an ideal destination for a summer or fall golf trip. Whether you want to treat yourself to a luxurious golf resort experience, or build your own Lake Tahoe golf trip by hand-selecting your preferred courses and accommodations, Lake Tahoe has a golf trip for you. Here are six great Lake Tahoe golf resorts and getaways.

Why Lake Tahoe?

Lake Tahoe offers stunning natural beauty and a serene environment that you won’t find at more popular golf destinations like Pinehurst, Myrtle Beach or Las Vegas. Meanwhile, the high altitude and mild climate can actually give you a mid-summer reprieve from the scorching summer sun. For comparison, the Lake Tahoe area is about 20-25 degrees cooler than Las Vegas during Tahoe’s prime golf season, May through September.

Lake Tahoe golf courses have the advantage of dramatic elevation changes and picturesque views that make your on-course experience unforgettable. Not to mention the fact that the mile-high elevation will help you hit the ball farther than ever. Those extra yards alone make a Lake Tahoe golf trip worthwhile.

If you want to avoid the crowds on your next golf trip, Lake Tahoe should be at the top of your list. Trade in the hustle and bustle of the city for a peaceful and relaxing Tahoe escape. Lake Tahoe is also perfect for travelers who want to enjoy other recreational activities like hiking or watersports.

Lake Tahoe Golf Resorts & Getaways

Some of our picks are resorts with a golf course on-property - you stay where you play, and enjoy the convenience of restaurants, spa, and other resort amenities on-site.

Other picks are highly regarded public access golf courses in resort communities. You’ll have to book your lodging and golf separately, and make additional arrangements for meals and transportation, but you’ll have more flexibility in planning your golf vacation, and you can probably save some money as well.

Edgewood Tahoe

The golf course at Edgewood Tahoe Resort has a resume like none other. It was originally designed by George Fazio in 1968, only to be renovated by Tom Fazio, one of golf’s most famous architects, later. It’s also host to one of the most enjoyable golf tournaments of the year, the American Century Championship.

The course itself tips out at over 7,500 yards, but has five sets of tees to offer an appropriate length for every player. With mountain views throughout, Edgewood brings you right to the shores of Lake Tahoe. Public tee times are available from May to October, ranging from $250-$350, while resort guests can take advantage of stay-and-play rates and enjoy all the amenities Edgewood has to offer, including three restaurants, a spa, and a beauty bar.

Dining options at Everline Resort at aplenty. Northstar Golf Course

Play golf at Lake Tahoe’s most unique layout and stay at one of the region’s premier mountain resorts, Northstar California.

The course itself is a tale of two nines. Start your round with free-swinging aggression as the front “Meadow Nine” is a wide open links style routing. Hold on tight on the tree-lined “Mountain Nine” to finish your round.

Public tee times range from $99 to $139, and golfers who package their golf and lodging save 10% on their Northstar Resort accommodations.

Northstar Resort is all-in on action and adventure. You won’t be skiing and golfing on the same trip, but that doesn’t mean you can’t hit the slopes. Mountain biking is the dominant summer activity at Northstar, and there are also plenty of hiking trails and 5-day camps for kids ages 4-15.
