I golfed 4 courses while in vacation in Virginia Beach. Bow Creek was our second favorite. 2010 was a very dry summer, and Bow Creek was in good condition. We were impressed that the greens were in good condition - sprinklers were on around the greens, but once our carts came within a hundred yards, sensors would shut off the sprinklers. The layout was fine for me. I played from the back tees (my drives are 260) and I got to use my 6 - sw (I stated that because many course here are too short - driver/PW). I LOVE THE STAFF - THEY ARE VERY FRIENDLY. The pace of play was excellent. My wife and I got around in a little over 3 1/2 hours.
The layout is excellent - most fairways are wide and water hazards only hurt the awry shots. This course is no piece of cake - hit the ball straight and you will score well. Thank you Bow Creek staff for a grat round of golf.

I like this course for the price but you get what you pay for. I lost 10 balls because of the enormous amount of tree foilage on the ground, and the other group ahead of my had the same problem, atside from that I will play her again.

If you are just learning the game this is the course to play it is inexpensive and the staff friendly. The back 9 are way better than the front 9. The most of the fairways need work, but the greens are tolerable.

The retirees who help take great pride in the looks of the course which are great considering the price. The current young pro is a terrific instructor.

I've played bow creek ever since first starting years and years ago. Right now, it's in the best conditions I've ever seen it. They have taken steps towards really caring for the greens. Yeah, the surrounding environment isn't anything to behold but it's cheap to play and if all you want to do is get practice this is the place to do it. The one con is the type of players you could get stuck behind, a lot of beginners here. I always get there by 8am and 95% of the time it's wide open, after that you have greater chances of waiting behind a first timer.

I don't play this course anymore but I used to all the time. Plain and simple it is poorly managed and operated. I have seen people playing in boots, tee shirts, cutoffs, sleeve less shirts, sandals and 5somes. I'm not a stuffed shirt or anything I just think a golf course should have a little pride and respect. The course is a cow pasture at best. Lots of homes around and the ponds are filled
with stuff and garbage. You get what you pay for here thats for sure. The fees are reasonable but don't expect much.

For Someone New To Playing Golf....

...this is a great course to start off with. The course is short in distance, so you don't have to swing big to get in good position for your second shot. There are homes that surrounds the course, so if you feel unconformable with the homes, you might want to try another course.
