I must say that the Fort Jackson courses are jewel!!! The greens are now some of the best that I've seen in my travels around the world. There is a new superintendent here and he and the staff have done an excellent job. The fairways are great and are they wide, but the ruffs are challenging if you miss the fairways. After leaving Japan and arriving here I was less than impressed with the courses here, but they have changed so much that I enjoy inviting friends to play here.

This is a decent golf course with fairly wide fairways, ample greens, and a good assortment of bunkers. As of April 09, the bunker sand is finally starting to settle, but with still too much sand in them. The greens however, are in poor condition. A few years ago they went to Champion Bermuda and for some reason they have not responded well. As with many military golf courses, the superintendents and golf course managers know they have excellent job security, so they do not seem too concerned. This course has some elevation change, but no water holes. Fort Jackson has two courses, and I recommend you play the Old Hickory course instead of this one. Old Hickory has some holes with water, and more charcter than Wildcat. If greens improve, Fort Jackson's two courses are very playable, and well worth the money.
