Great layout, each hole is different, with elevation changes most places. Conditions are usually very good, greens have been fixed by removing some trees to get sun on them. Best value for the money, compared with what all the other courses offer. Golf personnel are low keyed, needs improvement in snack bar service & speed area.

Good course. It is in great shape. Friendly staff. Got us out early. We played in 3 1/2 hours. Cost was on the high side, but worth the value. Not a course I would walk as it had many hills.

A good course to play. Not busy but the heat probably kept a lot of people away. Greens beat up a bit and another grass is trying to take them over. Good green complexes.

This is one of my favourite courses anywhere. From the friendly and helpful staff, to the terrific layout and conditioning, to the superb value. Always a fun time. Suggest they employ a marshal better, to avoid slow play, but otherwise no complaints at all.

Played this course today. It was in beautiful shape. Great value.

This is one of my favorites to play, challenging, scenic, very well maintained, and reasonable priced( in the spring). greens and fairways were in fine shape. greens held approach shots. missing some ball washers.
staff is courteous and competent in dispatching groups. number 16 is one of the hardest par 5's around( for me with an 8 hdcp), with a plateau reachable with a driver, and a ravine with trees on the right. after many rounds of playing cautiously with a 5 wood, and landing on the top ridge on a downhill position, or flat but in front of the trees on the right, I hammered the driver, caught the top of a tree, but landed on the slight upslope of the far-side hill. second shot(a blind one) with a three-wood placed me just off the green beside a bunker. the pin was in the back, so I parred the hole, which was infrequent for me on this hole. On no. 18, use a 3 wood, unless you hit with a controllable draw, or can crunch it straight, as the fairway slopes to the pond on the right side. no. 8 a very long, especially if into a prevailing wind par 3(180 to 200), over a ravine.
sprinklers are marked, rough is light. There was a potential agreement to sell it to a housing developer, but that dissolved. Thank goodness. Players travel over an hour to play here. topnotch facility.

I have read the other reviews and they must have caught these people on a bad day or the people playing must have had the bad tudes because iam handicapped and play slow and we never had a problem as a matter of fact the starter gave my cart a handicapped flag and said take our time. Also i would like to say this is a must play for all golfers from 1 handicaped and above and ihave played bayhills, sawgrass, oakhills, and many others all over the u.s. this is a must play for all and we played 08-09-09 and we a setting up another outting.

This is a very high value course for the money. Very nice scenery from one hole to the next, with enough difficulty and creativity to keep you stimulated throughout the round. The course itself is maintained fairly well for a public course and the greens were in very good shape when I played there last month. Now, I signed up to golflinks just to say this (and I hate signing up for things, so this says something): they need to do something about the starter and more so, the ranger. Half way into the round, the ranger came to us saying we have to hurry up and we're way behind. We had been playing for little over 2 hours at the completion of the 9th hole; how is this slow!?!?! The guy actually sat in his cart and watched the four of us tee off as if we had been f'ing around the whole time. The group behind us must've called and complained, but shouldn't this guy check the facts before accusing people? This is a shame, great course, but horrible people. The ranger was the cream of the crop, but the rest of the staff just seemed like they didn't really like working there.

I have been golfing at Dauphin highlands for a few years. The course is usually in good shape with the exceptions of some of the greens on the back nine. I have never had an issue there except for the my last visit. The course has a new ranger that is the most disrespectful ranger I have come across with since I have been golfing. I will not bore anyone with the details but will add that I will not be spending anymore money at Dauphin anytime soon.

If in the Harrisburg area...two public courses come to mind to play...Felicita and Dauphin Highlands. Dauphin Highlands is a bit more open but beautiful nonetheless. The greens and fairways well manicured. A number of scenic holes include the Par 4 5th that features a second shot over a pond, the Par 5 16th hole where placement of tee shot and 2nd shot between woods guarded rough is all important, and the long Par 3 17th with a tee shot over a thick wetland ravine. Upscale and slightly pricey, this was a worthwhile experience!

Enjoyed the layout, conditions were better than most area courses. In the spring and fall, the greens are super fast. If the county does close this course, it would be a major blow to the Harrisburg area golf scene. Pace of play is slooooow. Bring a book to read between shots.

I dont agree with the ratings. It might be one of the top 25 courses overall in Pennsylvania. Im not sure how the county is going to shut it down after this and build a truck stop and a few worthless stores.
Everybody in the area should go play this course before they shut it down.

This course should not even be thought of in the top 50. dont get me wrong its a nice course but not that nice. 2 of the greens last year in 07' were shut down becuase the maint. people couldn't keep them in good shape. The staff doesn't treat younge adults with any respect. And if it is ranked 19 way does the county want to shut it down and build a mall, it doesn't make any sense. In 2007 the course was negative a million dollars. If its ranked 19 they shouldn't be loosing money
