The 18-hole "Shale Creek" course at the Shale Creek Golf Club facility in Medina, Ohio features 7,026 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 71. Designed by Brian Huntley, ASGCA, the Shale Creek golf course opened in 2006.
Played late in thee season however fairways were well groomed from first cut to the rough. Leaf fall was cleared for most of course even during this brisk fall like day. Greens were well kept and drainage was adaquate in all but some bunkers. I think this is a course to watch. Pretty impressive for only the 4th season.
Not sure if they were short on mowers or preparing for the US Open. The rough was as high as 10-12 inches in some areas a few yards off the green. Greens were slow maybe a 6-7 on the stimp meter. The course is plenty difficult without the rough. Plenty of OB, water, bunkers, ravines and happy grass. Few trees. On the plus side, the course has come in nicely, very few bare spots and the greens were immaculate although slow. The club house is a trailer, after 4 years since the course has been open I'd expect better. To make up for it they had a hot beer girls roaming the course. It's a "wannabe" with plenty that still needs to be done. Not worth the $66 I paid.
