18 hole regulation length course
The 18-hole "Highlands" course at the Blue Heron Golf Club facility in Medina, Ohio features all the hallmarks of Ohio golf. Designed by John F. Robinson, the Highlands golf course opened in 2005.
Played this course today...what a horribly maintained track. The layout is definitely tough and causes a lot of risk/reward type of play. However, when you have greens with dead spots bigger than a golf cart, bunkers with tadpoles living in them, other bunkers that have been allowed to become overgrown "ground under repair", and fairways with multiple dead spots...the course is completely ruined. Top that off with the price to play (we played 18) of $40 (discounted from $55)...you have a very disappointing experience.I will not recommend this course to anyone nor will I play this course again for a LOOOOOOONG time!
I don't understand the first reviews. This couse has not been maintained properly in years. It's a great layout but the housing market bust made their private golf club go bust and the public course gets little attention. Only go if you can go cheap
course managementgreat layout that will test your abilities, along with scenery that will delight the senses. You must know your distances with every club; GPS is reliable 98% of the time, but often you should consider one extra club. Every hole has a special challenge. Don't blame the course for your shortcomings. Take what the course gives you.
Blue Heron...Better bring extra balls!!!Well quite simple put, the course itself is beautiful, but it is extremely hard. Almost every tee has a dead area in front of it with high grass and trees where it's easy to lose a ball. If you think you're good this is the course to go play. I'm sure it will humble you immediately. Staying in the fairway is a must or you're done on most of the holes. Hope you have a lot of balls because there are plenty of ways to lose them. This course is totally unforgiving. Too far left or right and you'll lose your ball or have a really bad lie. It is worth the money though if you love golf. They have a GPS system in all the carts to tell you how far you are away from the pin. Good Luck
