Course Reviews

Worst course I have ever played at. The greens arent green they are dirt and rocks. The employees are rude. The starter is the meanest rudest ugliest person I have ever met. We once were on time for our Tee time, but we had to leave the course and go to an ATM machine for cash because there credit card system was down. After we had to drive 15 minutes to an ATM then 15 minutes back with the cash we were not on time for the tee time WHICH IS COMPLETLY NOT OUR FAULT! The starter said and i quote "You are the fucking assholes that are late" Thats all i have to say about that.

PS the only good thing about this place is BUNS

As far as actual golf goes, maintenance is not very good, but it is very inexpensive and the routing is actually pretty good, so actually a pretty good value.

That said, the staff is utterly horrific. Rude and unfriendly is being generous save for some of the younger crew. The weekend starter needs to be fired. Speaks rudely and behaves as if he just does not want to be there. Really, fire this guy. It is a county course meaning county tax payers at least partially pay his salary so the behavior is complete b.s.. The staff need to get it through their heads that they are staff. It is no surprise that despite the cheap price tag the place is a graveyard after 11am. No casual golfer will put up with the crap service and attitude. In fact I will be contacting the the MCIA (body that oversees middlesex county golf) to log a complaint about the starter. Unacceptable.

all they want is $$$$$ money!!!!!! not a bad course. but you know what you are in for when you think of these course east & west. but played Sunday at 4 (17.00) done just about 7:45. but if the husband & wife would of let us by, would of been sooner all & all not a bad day,

too many golfers, money is all they want they put as many golfer out there dont care about pace of play 4hours never happens

this place sucks moose @$!*%!

I don't care what they say. Tamarack is one of the most descent public courses to play on. The West course is very long and can let you take out most of your clubs to make a par or birdie. The 19th is one of the best, except for lack of drink taste choices. Very friendly staff, except when they are tired. The school kids are fantastic staff addition and very cordial.

great course...best course in middlesex county..the people who work there are very angry old men except the beautiful girl at the fron desk lol..

alot of garbage on course and west course in bad shape t boxes are like hitting out of sand trap

This is a GREAT county golf facility. It has a large driving range, two practice green (one of which you can practice chipping), a restaurant, lockers (yearly rental), hot dog cart on the turn, and reasonable rates for registered Middlesex county residents. I LOVE playing the west course and compared to many municipal golf courses, it is in great shape.

Tamarack West is an acquired taste. Sure, the conditions are bad and the greens are slow, but here are some glorious par fours, and two of my favorite par 5s in all of New Jersey -- the uphill no. 3, and the treacherous no. 7. West presents some of the nastiest terrain imaginable for those who can't find the fairway -- rivers and dense foliage. This is NOT a Florida course.
I love West, and when I die, I have instructed my playing partners to scatter my ashes in the fairway of no. 3, where one can easily imagine George Washington leading his ragged Continental Army to glorious victory at the Battle of Monmouth.

this course is in bad shape and everyone that works their is a complete @$!*%. it must be a requirement to work there. they should spend more time on the fairways and the greens then wondering what time your going to finish up a twilight round. this place is going to hell in a hand basket. they need to close east or west down for a year to let the course recoup.

I did not know its such a pain to get a teetime booked at this course. The proshop guy says you need to be a member to reserve a teetime. I do not understand why so on a public course.

Course Layout is beautiful and challenging. But Green is really really slow and bumpy. Fairways are OK when the time I played.

Just love this long course, you better bring your A game on this 1.
