generous fairways. Undulating greens are its' main defense. just played there 3/31/10 and 11 of the greens were HORRIBLE... the other 7 were excellent... okay then lol... scenic course once it greens up in june... fun to play... good deals during the week

By far Alton's premier course..only gripe is the one hole in which power lines come into play. Tournament type play, included lunch..and pace of play police on patrol.

I play this course in weekly league. Over the last two years (2007, 2008)the course has was really improved but this year (2009) it is a mess. The greens are a mess this year. They actually lost number 4 green completely. Our league plays the ball down and everyones hanicaps are up 3 strokes a nine because of the poor greens. The ball bounces, it does not roll. Tap ins are even questionable. Employees are not very friendly here. Warm beer is problem here. Urinal took a year and a half to be fixed and restroom smells. I wish Arnold Palmer would pay a visit and get the place back up to par!

This is also my home course. I joined the players club here which is 35 bucks a month getting you free greens fees on their Executive practice course, unlimited range balls, and after 3 PM only 13bucks to play the main course. A great deal if you play a lot of golf. This is a decently long course with difficult placement of sand traps and some very hard to read greens. Beautiful scenery and if you play near dusk you will definitely see deer on your fairways. Great course, well maintained, highly recommended.

the best rough in the area, it will penalize you, put the ball in the fairway. well maintained. need to shape your shot off the tee. 7th hole fairway needs to be redesigned. two power lines in play. service can be way too crabby at times. weekends are too expensive. but there is a nice meal deal during the weekdays. overall it is a good design and usually fun to play. executive course is good for practice. get used to flopping the ball out of the rough before you play. love the new golf scrambles, wish there were more of them throughout the year.

Good Course

This course is well maintained and difficult. We played at the end of March when the fairway grass was still dormant. The greens were in excellent condition. It is a municipal course with an average clubhouse. The course does have a driving range. Very enjoyable course to play.

Great course!

This course is really enjoyable for players of all skill levels. It's got an amazing layout and is one of the most scenic courses in the area. The course is in great shape and it seems that maintainence is high on their list of priorities. The only complaint is that the staff can be somewhat "less than helpful." But they do have the largest selection of Titleist hats in the area.
