This course is just an O.k course, which I wish I could say was better because the super nice pro shop staff guy told me the course was in financial difficulty. Everything about this course is just alright, from the maintenance to the uniqueness of the holes, to the condition of the greens. Even the price was barely justifiable ($26 to walk mid afternoon on a summer weekend) Normally that price would be great, but it's only barely fair for how blah this course is. Amazingly, the course was packed which shouldn't be held against the course but kinda does. There must not be many $30 courses in Deleware because the quality simply didn't justify how many people were playing it. They did have logo balls, a huge plus for me and I can't emphasize enough how nice the pro shop guy was. In fact, he even offered a rain check because of some thunder in the area. Not many courses, at least that I know of would do that after you play more than a few holes. Go play this course because I hate seeing any golf course close. Overall rating C-.

Ed "porky" Olivers is a fun and very affordable course which is in the process of making themselves much better. The biggest upgrade that I noticed (played last week) was a complete rebuild of nearly all bunkers and surrounding grass. The bunkers are almost finished the complete rebuild and the sod around them looks beautiful. A few weeks of treatment will make what was one of the biggest downfalls a strong point. The course is pretty short (~5800 yrds, par 69) but has its share of difficulties. All things considered, this is a course I play often because the price is right (~$25 after 2 or 3pm weekday, little more on weekend)and it is great for mid to high handicappers. Low handicappers and scratch golfers will play this course under par, but will enjoy it. Check it out.

Ed Oliver feels like a work in progress, but has real potential should the Casper folks spend the money and time to upgrade. On the downside, the fairways and rough are heavily rutted, and the cart paths are uneven at best, so you are going to either need to drive your cart slowly or leave with a noticeable limp from the intense bouncing you will do. Also, the rough can be patchy, so once you are off the fairway, you are maybe 80% likely in rough, 20% likely on hardpan, or worse, on hardpan between clumps of rough. The fringe around the green is hit and miss as well, mostly grassy but some bare lies. My biggest complaint is the bunker sand; it's not fluffy, fine white, but more packed red clay, so can be tricky to escape when the lip is elevated. A final note, there is a stream, only about 3 feet wide, at the base of the first green, that is not visible at all from the fairway, so do NOT attempt to run the ball up to the green, or you will have a nasty surprise.

On the plus side, the course will be a good challenge for the mid-handicapper, at 6100+ yards from the blue tees, lots of doglegs, rolling fairways, some tightly constrained tee shots, and a few devilishly sloped greens. Overall, a good bet if you want to get a quick 18 in on a medium level course.

Used to be a so-so course at a fair price...now it's a so-so course that's horribly overpriced.

I played there this past weekend and had a horrible time. Fairways are in bad shape, really difficult to find your balls if they're not on the fairway, greens are ok, and the course layout is very confusing. Definitely not a good value for what you're getting. On top of that, someone threatened to bash our heads with his golf club. The only reason i gave this course even one star is for the nice professional people working for the course. Definitely a course i will not go back again ever!

This is a great public course. The fairways and greens are always short, trimmed and smooth. This course gets a great deal of traffic, yet is well maintained. This is a nice course for a beginner.
