Go for the views, not the golf. This course sends out 5-somes as the rule rather than the exception. There was a 5-some ahead of us and a 5-some ahead of them. We were a 3-some but they added a 2-some to our group to make it 5. In fact, almost everywhere you looked there were 5 people on a hole. Very slow play. No marshall. We quit after 5 1/2 hours and 17 holes because the sun went down. We started late, too and I hear that is also commonplace here. Seen the view. Wouldn't play the course again.

My old home course. Beautiful if not banged up at times, and slow. I will only play first thing in the morning, but when there's nobody out there it's probably the best deal in golf. Expect six hour rounds once the crowds arrive. It's a zoo. After a while I went to lesser courses that were much further away cuz I couldn't take the waiting. The rough could use a manicure, but fairways and greens are in decent shape.

I place this course in the top five of the course that I have played. The view of the Catalina Island is breath taking and can make you lose focus of the game. The greens are relatively fast and breaks with the current. The course is hilly and located with difficulities and blind shots. Keeping the ball in the fairway is a must on this course. The proshop and clubhouse are small, however, the staff is very friendly!

I love my home course and driving range!!!

This course is amazing!! The only problem I had was that I'm under 18 so I wasn't aloud to rent a cart and I had to walk all 18 holes. Also make sure you take a drink because the snack cart didn't go around, but they did have water fountains around the course. The scenery is outstanding. Junior fees are only $5 and Adults are $23. Compared to $200 at Torrey and $450 at Pebble this course has the ocean view and the price to go along with it.

Los Verdes is a terrific municipal course. The terrain offers a variety of challenges due to it's construction on the backside of the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Expect a lot of lies above or below your feet. The course is fairly well kept with most of that spent on the greens. As mentioned by others the problem with Los Verdes is slow play a great deal of the time with 18 holes taking as much as 6 hours to play. If you have $$$ to play try Trump National just down the coast it's pricey but immaculate, challenging and the views are spectacular on a clear day.

Nice lay-out, lot's of up & down - a billy goats dream. Several blind greens and blind slopes. The Pacific pulls the putts - I had several putts break up hill. Very slo wplay with all the 5-somes out there. Scenery is as good any with the ocean view on several holes.

This course is a must play every time I visit Los Angeles. It is by far the best value for the money. I find the course very challenging. Being so close to the Pacific, the break on the greens can have you scratching your head. I prefer to walk and the hills on the back nine can take it out of a geezer like me. I love the layout, there are plenty of uphill and downhill shots to play. Even a driveable par 4 if you can hit it straight. The only downside to Los Verdes is; a weekend round can take you five and a half hours. I count myself lucky if I get to play Los Verdes twice a year.

Los Verdes is the second course we played in CA this trip and I have to say, in my opinion, it put Torrey Pines to shame. The course was in better condition, more challenging holes and beautiful views of the Pacific from several holes. The majority of the holes presented interesting slope issues, where the fairways would slope from left to right or vice versa and there were a couple of blind shot holes where the elevation changes did not allow us to see the greens. Overall, I would say this ranks as one of my favorite courses to date.

However, there were some issues. Los Verdes sends out groups of five, which created a great deal of stack-up at several of the tee boxes. The pace of play was extremely slow, but there were the views to look at. Also, we never saw the beferage cart during the 18 holes we played. (Yes, we asked if it was running and told it would be.) Bottom line, if you are in the area, this is a course I would highly recommend, just make sure to take some refreshments with you before you hit the first tee.

Ocean Views

Quite a bit of up and down elevations and quite a few holes have wonderful views of the Pacific and Catalina Island. Play is usually a bit slow but layout is great. Sometimes foggy in early a.m. No water to contend with on any holes. A great deal. Private course look with a public course price.
