Shot Scope Pro X Review: The New Customizable Rangefinder

You have a ton of rangefinder options these days, but it’s not very often that a new rangefinder comes out with a new, unique feature. 

Sure, the top-end rangefinders this year integrate GPS distances and club recommendations, which is new and really cool, but those units cost about as much as a new driver.

The Shot Scope Pro X, however, is a budget-friendly rangefinder with a fun new twist. I’ve tested the Pro X over several rounds on the course. Find out just how it stacks up against other affordable rangefinders in this complete, life-tested review.

The Shot Scope Prox X is a full-sized rangefinder with all the features you need. 

The slope function can be toggled on and off using a switch on the top of the unit. 

The magnetic mount keeps the Pro X secure on the cart bar during even the bumpiest of terrain (trust me, I tested this part rigorously). 

It’s quick and accurate, and offers 6x magnification.

Here’s the coolest part. The Pro X has a side plate that is customizable with one of Shot Scope’s pre-made designs, or you can equip it with your own design or logo with a minimum order of six units. What do I love most about the Shot Scope Pro X rangefinder? Besides the GolfLink logo on the unit I tested, it just might be the fact that the entire unit only has only two buttons. 

One to shoot the target, and the other (which is actually a toggle, not a button) to turn Slope mode on and off.

When it comes to rangefinders, I believe less is more. In this case, two buttons cover everything you need, and nothing that you don’t. That makes this unit as easy to operate as possible.

The outer casing has a very subtle softness to it that replaces any hard or rigid feel and makes for a nice presence in your hand.

The optics on the Pro X are crystal clear, and it spits out readings instantly.

To confirm the accuracy, I tested it against GPS distances and other laser rangefinders, and can confirm that it produces spot-on distances.

When we tested the Shot Scope Pro X in a controlled, pre-measured environment, it proved to be accurate to within less than half a yard, and scored a perfect 10/10 in our accuracy test.

One of the only things I would consider changing about the Shot Scope Pro X is the battery. The Pro X uses a replaceable battery, not a rechargeable battery. I know there are merits to both options, but I prefer a rechargeable battery because it can easily be charged in a pinch, especially now that most golf carts have charge ports.

Sure, if you want to spend a lot more, you can get a lot more from a rangefinder.
