Two birds, one stone? That’s what Maxfli is trying to accomplish with its latest Straightfli golf ball.

Straightfli is Maxfli’s shot at two of the things weekend warriors care most about: their wallets and their slice.

And who could blame Maxfli? A $14-a-dozen golf ball that can cure a slice could be a serious winner.

Our testing puts the name to the test, and reveals what tradeoffs come with it.

How We Tested Maxfli Straightfli

We put the Maxfli Straightfli through our published golf ball testing protocols using the SkyTrak ST Max launch monitor. That means human swings under strict bands for swing speed, impact quality, and delivery dynamics.

To see performance from tee to green, we test driver, 7-iron, and 50-yard wedge shots with each ball.

We tested 43 golf balls in total for 2026 then translated the raw data into 1-10 scores in the categories that matter most to your game. That lets you easily see how each ball stacks up to the field.

The “Straightfli” name is enough to get most golfers asking “could I hit this ball straighter?”

The price makes it easy to find out.

Maxfli put its Find the Fairway dimple pattern – a strategic mix of large, medium, and small dimples aimed at reducing sidespin – on Straightfli and claims it’s 20% straighter than the previous edition.

That makes it a prime choice for beginners and high-handicap players who prioritize value, and keeping the ball in-bounds.

Distance: 8.3/10

At its core, Straightfli is a distance ball.

A 2-piece construction and ionomer cover is always a recipe for distance. And Straightfli didn’t back down when we put it to the test with driver.

The 138.5 MPH ball speed it produced was actually the fastest ball speed of any non-urethane ball we tested. With a mid-spin and mid-launch profile, it produced 243.9 total yards, beating three-quarters of the balls we tested.

If you’re considering yards-per-dollar, Straightfli was in a virtual tie with Vice Drive as the longest ball under $20.

Stopping Power: 7.9/10

The biggest surprise of our Maxfli Straightfli test? Its Stopping Power performance.

Despite construction that’s notorious for low-spin and limited control, Straightfli actually proved to be a high-spin ball in our 7-iron test.

Paired with an average peak height and descent angle, it stopped much quicker than we expected. With just 9.4 yards of roll in our test, Straightfli stopped shorter than several tour-caliber balls, and all but two ionomer balls.

Wedge Control: 6.0/10

Every ball has an achilles heel, and Straightfli’s is around the greens.

In our 50-yard wedge test, we just couldn’t get it to spin. That, of course, means we couldn’t get it to stop.

A higher launch angle is the next best thing if you can’t get spin from those partial-wedge shots, and Straightfli did well there, but it wasn’t nearly enough to get it to stop quickly, rolling out an average of more than six yards. For comparison, we tested five balls that stopped in under two yards in this same test.

For a ball with Straight in its name, Straightfli didn’t exactly meet expectations in our accuracy test.

With driver, Straightfli was pretty good at resisting sidespin. The mere 130 RPM of sidespin was less than three-quarters of the balls we tested.

But its high-spin nature in our 7-iron test translated to sidespin, too, which undermined the ball’s name.

If you care mostly about reducing a slice (or a hook) with driver, Straightfli gets the job done.

Value: 8.5/10

At the $14 per dozen bulk price, Straightfli is tied for the lowest price of the 43 golf balls we tested.

And it delivers plenty of upside. Beyond just resisting sidespin off the tee, it’s one of the longer balls we’ve tested, and it out-performed its 2-piece peers in our 7-iron test.

No, it’s not the ball you want when facing a short-sided greenside shot. But if you can work around that weakness and want the best bang for your buck, Straightfli is tough to beat.

Who is Maxfli Straightfli For?

Even though Straightfli didn’t dominate our accuracy test the way you might hope when you see the name, it’s still a great ball for budget shoppers who want to hit the ball long and straight.

And let’s face it, that’s an enormous chunk of the 25+ million golfers out there.

Sure, more serious golfers – I’d say mid-handicappers and better – probably need better wedge control than Straightfli can deliver. But for recreational players, beginners, and high-handicappers, Straightfli delivers where it counts.
