Learning to hit the driver is one of the most difficult tasks in the game. The driver is the longest club in the golfer's arsenal and it is the easiest club of all to make a mistake with. Many beginners decide to play without a driver because they fear making a mistake. However, there are several excellent drivers made by golf manufacturers that are specifically made for beginners.
Big Bertha
The Big Bertha driver should be an outstanding club for any beginning golfer. It may sound like a club for an experienced "big hitter," but the Big Bertha has a greater hitting area and is also more forgiving than most other drivers.
BK Hybrid
This is a club that should be easier for the beginning golfer to master. The BK hybrid is not as long as some of the bigger drivers out there and it will leave the golfer feeling as if he has more control, as if swinging an iron. Control is the key for a golfer to feel comfortable.
Callaway Driver
Callaway makes outstanding clubs for golfers at all levels and that holds true for beginners. A Callaway FT IQ driver is more forgiving and that's what most beginners need. Ideally, a golfer will hit the ball in the middle of the driver's face. But beginners are not going to be able to do that, and the FT IQ driver will allow the golfer to hit a decent shot even when he doesn't hit the ball squarely.
