Rib Mountain Golf Course is a fun little course that isn’t overly challenging for advanced golfers, but it does have some of the best views in Wausau, especially in the fall. The colors are incredible at that time of year because the course is part of Rib Mountain State Park. The course isn’t far off Route 51, you just need to go down a country road for a short distance. Six out of the nine holes are par 3’s ranging from 155 to 245 yards. So while the course is only 1,900 total yards and a par 32, the par 3’s can be challenging just based on their length. Most short courses don’t have driving ranges, but Rib Mountain does, with a putting green as well. Even if you’re not there to play 9 holes you can easily get some quality practice time in. No matter what you’re at Rib Mountain for, you have to eat at Carmelo’s inside of the clubhouse. It’s a white tablecloth, Italian restaurant that’s one of the best in the area. Manicotti, linguini with clams, and the highly recommended Seafood Carmelo are some of the highlights.
