The Ellensburg Golf and Country Club, located in central Washington, offers a pleasant golfing experience amidst a backdrop of beautiful views.

This par-35 nine-hole course measures just under 3,000 yards from the men's tees and provides a good variety of holes for beginning and more advanced golfers. Ellensburg has a nice balance of being playable and challenging. The course will keep you on your toes but won't have you ready to pack up your bag and head to the parking lot in frustration.

The seventh hole par-5 is the longest hole on the course at 487 yards. It's a straight shot from tee to green so big hitters can score well here. You will also find two fairly short par-3s – the fifth and ninth holes.

Nature is everywhere on and around the course. It is common to see deer and rabbits scampering across the fairways and geese and ducks enjoying the ponds. You might even catch a glimpse of some of the regulars' favorite neighbors – friendly llamas who are just a fence away.

Ellensburg opened in 1932 which is evident by the maturity of the surrounding trees and landscapes, something you won't find on newer courses. There are scenic views on every hole and many offer a look at the nearby Cascade Mountains.

The fairways and greens are vibrant and healthy, but the rye grass might offer a new challenge to golfers accustomed to closely trimmed courses. Each year, the course looks better and better and the owners have done an excellent job with maintenance and improvements.

As the locals will tell you, the owners are pleasant and genuine and truly care that you have a positive experience on their course. One of the co-owners is an excellent golfer himself and it's fun to watch him work magic on the course.

The golf course offers a driving range and restaurant on site and both receive good reviews from customers. Since Central Washington University is located in the town of Ellensburg, it's common to see college students hitting balls on the range or grabbing a bite to eat in the restaurant.

Ellensburg Golf Club is a semi-private club that offers memberships as well as daily rates for public play. Prices for a round of golf with cart are very reasonable.
