Great course to work on that all important short game. Even though I havent been playing that long. I find this course as a great course to learn how to use your irons and wedges. Most people that I talk to really enjoy playing here.

What a GREAT course to start up! This is my son's introduction to the game and the first time that I've played 18 holes myself. The scenery is great, beautiful pine trees, nice water hazards that make everything blend in nicely. The only issue are the geese... Too many and they leave droppings everywhere... If you are looking to challenge your game with the irons and wedges, this should be a place to test your skills. Overall, a very nice course to practice and get things started for kids as well. Course includes a nice driving range for an affordable rate as well as a cafeteria and the Pro Shop. Which by the way, they are VERY FRIENDLY AND RESPONSIVE to you at all times! That makes this place ideal for a family golf outing! No tee time reservation needed. First come, first served. You'll love it!

Took my son out for his first "round" of golf here today. An absolute great course for a beginner to play on, especially since some of the holes are challenging for a beginner. Specifically the dogleg left on #3, and over the water on #6. It really prepares the young golfer for what they will see at the larger courses. Great place to start. That being said this also seems to be a course that I could use to clean up my game. I have to say I found it challenging due to the fact that 6 of the 9 are PAR 3's and I'm used to letting my clubs go with some room for error. Great experience, and a course we will play again and again. He shot a 54 to a 40 par for beginners.

I too learned golf at this course and while not $3, it's still very inexpensive especially considering you can play 18 (9x2) for about $10 at twilight. It's very much a beginner's course and that's what made learning golf a much more enjoyable thing for me (less frustration). The one gripe I have is the geese. At times, there can be loads of goose crap on the greens and usually, only the greens. Otherwise, highly recommended for all beginners. It's one of the few places you can hack away without feeling much embarrassment because chances are that the other people around you are in the same boat.

Definitely a course for beginners, but it's a great place for a quick nine holes.

I learned golf on this course. I started in 1969. Never got very good, but LOVE Golf! The fee back then was $3 for all day play. You could rent a small set of clubs for $3. I don't remember any fee for the pull cart. What a deal! I loved this place. Played as often as my wife would let me out (she highly approves of me playing this game)(I lived in Norfolk). I'd like to see the green fee lowered back to something close to the afore mentioned for the beginning golfer (and everyone else) but I guess maintenance suggests something different. Haven't played there for many years due to transfers with job and now will settle in Suffolk after retirement. Will surely play Portsmouth for old times sake very soon. Please try (or support) the course. You'll have a good time. My ratings are what I expect I'd find today after about a quarter century after playing this course; consequently, my ratings are based on what I remember versus todays rates to play. Get off your dud and play golf; the greatest game/sport every found by mankind! You'll never know until you play. Your friend, Debexx
