Played 12/24/2012. Beautiful GC. The course is short but challenging. Lots of oak trees lining the fairways and creeks meander throughout the course. A nice variety of holes, doglegs, straight holes, par-3's over water, very long par 5's (close to 600 yards), challenging drives. Just an absolutely fun course to play. The green fee was $30 for a senior rate which is a bargain. The only negatives is that the kitchen doesn't know what a tuna salad sandwich is supposed to look like. What I got was basically canned tuna on bread with a bit if red onion, absolutely no celery, nor mayonaise or anything else. There is no driving range but the course maintenance is amazing. The fairways are dormant and yellow but the greens are a darkish green and super fast. The sand in the bunkers is very soft. A great golf course and I intend to return again.

This is one of my favorite courses to play! They renovated this course and I must say it I beautiful. The club house, pro shop, restaurant, and scenery is awesome. There are short greens and tight fairways but my friend who has a high handicap was able to come and enjoy his experience here. Helpful staff. Most impressive with the maintenance of the course. Most definitely coming back here again. Recommend highly

Stevens Park just re-opened from year long updating, so conditions of course are great. This was first time playing here, but people we were paired with had played the previous course a lot and they could not stop talking about what an incredible job they did of completely changing the course for the better. I would certainly recommend this course for all levels of players!

One of my favorite Dallas munis. Quite a few tight holes and some very small greens on this course that winds through a beautiful old residential neighborhood. If you can hit it relatively straight and play a variety of shots, you'll score well. If you rely on length to overcome errant shots, you'll be in trouble. Short, with a few tricked-up holes, but requires every club in the bag and is definitely NOT simply a grip-it-and-rip-it track, which is a refreshing change in this neck of the woods. Also the only muni course in Dallas not located in a rather dodgy area. BTW, the description of this course as 10 miles from the city center is way off. It lies about 2 miles SW of downtown and you can get a nice panorama of the skyline on several holes.

This is one of the best public courses in the metroplex. The course is always in perfect shape and is a joy to play. This course reminds me of a private club because of its ammenties and neighborhood. The best value in the area. The pros at the other munis are arrogant.

I love this course as did my grandfather. Although I live in the area, I will most likely continue to play there. It could definitely use a driving range, but there really is no place to put one.

My claim to golf fame!

Hit a hole in one here back in 04'. Hole 11 148 yards on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Anyway, the course is old and well maintained. Nice old timey feeling for playing golf. Kind of funky green approaches as most old courses were. It plays short I think due to the fact when built in 1922 most folks played with hickory shafts and a 200 yard drive was quite a feat! #6 is my fav, with its down "into the pit" green. Never seen anything like it before or since and very fun to drive the green trying for an ace here on this short par 4. #18 "carnival slide" green is too much... but don't change it or you would take out the charm......Worth Playing when in Dallas........

Not my favorite place

Stevens Park is an older course, located in the Oak Cliff section of Dallas. The biggest drawback for me is the absence of a driving range. At my age, I need to hit a bucket before I play to loosen up or I'll spend the entire front nine trying to get loose. Too many of the holes are ridiculously short... I have driven the green on holes #2, #8, #10, and #13 (all Par 4s). Holes #2, #3, #8, #10, #15, #17 and #18 are all Par 4s requiring irons off the tee in most cases because they are so short and in some cases, 90 degree doglegs with too little distance to allow for use of a wood. Two of the Par "5"s can easily be reached with a driver or 3 wood and a short iron. This is almost like a pitch and putt course more than a regular golf course. The stated distance of 6,000 yards is from the back tees; from the whites, it is probably only about 5,600.
