Very nice course. Very nice folks in the clubhouse. A bit pricey at $55.00 on a weekday. But...overall a very enjoyable course. Would play again.

Wow! What a neat course. The "island holes" are great fun and the staff is super-friendly and accommodating. Very scenic. You can't beat this course for $25!! One of the best days I've spent on a course.

There's the scary part of the course near the river and on the islands then there's the breather part of the course that's fairly open. Loved the holes nearer the river he other holes were OK. Liked the links routing going out away from the clubhouse the first nine and back to the clubhouse the back nine.

Great course in my opinion. Only paid 20$ via online booking and was worth every penny. The scenery was marvelous, I can not wait to play this course in the summer time. Greens are in great shape. Tee boxes are flat for the most part and divots are kept filled in by the grounds crew. Fairways were very hard and brown. I will certainly be playing here again.

River Islands is a challenging, well maintained, and very scenic golf course. We played on a very rainy day and the course drained very well, the greens were pristine, and the layout is a change of pace with 5 par 5s and 5 par 3s, many of which have tee shots over the French Broad River. It is a little bit out of the way, but definitely worth the drive and the $35 for Tennessee residents.

This course is exactly what it's called, 5 of the holes are actually on Islands in the River and the course plays on both sides. The course was in great shape, although the greens were not yet healed from aeration. I loved the layout of this course and it was a very challenging round of golf. A must play if you are in the Gatlinburg area.

Played this course for a discounted rate with and will definitely play it again, even if its full price. The course is beautiful and was in as good of shape as you can expect for a public course in mid-March. The greens had just been aerated and it was still very enjoyable. Pace of play was dead on 4.5 hours and the course includes some challenging par 3's that require accurate tee shots to island greens.

This may have once been a four star based on the layout, but it is no longer. Maintenace was fair, greens about a four for speed. Pace of play 5 hours. Can't compare this to other local courses, but I would not go out of my way to play this. Staff was very nice.

Great course. Excellent practice facilites - driving range complete with target greens with flags, putting green, and separate chipping green with a bunker to practice sand shots. In excellent condition with extremely well thought out holes. Worth the price if you love to play nice courses. My favorite course in the Pigeon Forge area.

Only complaint was that the "turn shack" was not open and apparently never is. We played the course on a Tuesday.

Fun course. We planned to play only once but had to go back for a second round.

Very nice, well cared for, good practice facilities. Course was wet from rain previous day and was cart path only but we still got around in about 4-1/2 hrs. Nice to play on greens that arent hard as a brick as many of the other courses in the area(Banebarry and Dandridge) are.

Greens were a bit rough in late October '07. Layout and scenery are a 10 - an absolutely beautiful course with some of the most imaginative holes Ive ever seen. For someone unused to the course, the extremely subtle breaks on the greens can lead to a lot of three putts. There are no flat, straight putts, but even given that, this is a "must play" course.

Played River Island on Oct. 3, 2007 with my Hacker buddies. This is a beautiful Golf Course. The par 3's will really get your attention. It is an challenge if you donot know where to place your tee shot in the fairway. We played the white tee box at 6,300 yards. There are numerous blind shots. Greens were in good shape. Fairways were excellent. We shoot in the high 80's. Normally shot low 80's.

Played here in September 07. Wonderful, scenic course that's a very fair test of golf. The course was in terrific condition and the staff was very accomodating. I agree with the earlier comment about the tee markers having hole layouts. I played by myself and had to guess a couple of times if I was going the right way with my drive and driving the cart. But that's very minor compared to the overall value for playing golf on an incredible course.

I grew up playing at River Islands and RI was my high school's home course. I have played a lot of golf all over the country and RI still remains my #1. If you are in the Knoxville/Gatlingburg area don't miss this one of a kind layout. There are 2 par 3s completely over the river to island greens. Also, there are 3 holes on a strip of land where the river flows on each side (large island). A true links course with miles of cartpath and the turn aproximately 4 1/2 miles from the clubhouse-The views are remarkable and the layout is unforgetable. Don't forget to tee your driver up from #18 green and TRY to knock a ball to the other side of the river. This is the local's challenge. It takes a poke to get it across. I've hit 100s of balls there and I've only made it across twice! don't miss out on the chance for a memorable round because you'll never play another course like River Islands.
