This is a pretty nice course with some very unique holes. It's typically in better shape than it was today. A lot of trees down due to the recent high winds, but conditions should improve as the season goes on. It's a short course with the biggest fallback being the condition of the fairways. Hitting off of virtual concrete never was my favorite, but the intangibles make up the difference. They do have logo balls as well, sometimes, so that's another plus. Overall rating...B to B-

This is running away the best public course in the world, excellent greens, tees, and fairways. if i had one course to play the rest of my life it would be "he Lane". I highly suggest giving the grounds crew i.e. Nick and Eric a raise.

WAlnut lane is a great little golf course for people who are willing to not use there driver as much . i recently went there and it was much improved since about one year ago other than the tee box it was good

I don't get one thing people have said here. It has some terrific scenery, as it is inside the Wissahickon park. It also offers some intriguing holes. However, it is poorly maintained and short and not well marked etc. Basically, a good place for beginners and for others who just want to go and hit the ball

I think ppl are too hard on this place. The bathrooms were clean, the property is nice, and Dalassandro's is across the parking lot, so amenities are fine with me. It's an easy course. Great for learners. The greens were ridic slow, but got better as the course dried. Personally I like the juxtaposition of a golf course in the city, so whatever the scenery. It was $27 for 1 holes. I got around in 3.5 hours with a 4 some. Sure it's not Bushwood, but if you are a member at Bushwood then why play the Walnut Lane?

A reasonably priced course (even if charged $3 more than price stated on this site). Greens in variety of conditions - most were good, but a few in very poor state and all tees badly worn. Not a very tranquil course as suffers from constant background road noise. Overall, a useful course for a novice but probably not for the more serious golfer.

Played a fundraiser here, not too too bad. Maintenance does need to be improved, lots of divots in the greens and beer bottles in the fairways. Crossing a busy street to get from hole 7 to "back 11" is an interesting quirk. A decent course to get some short game work.

Although course has horrible tee boxes, fairway is like hitting off of stone, greens are in good condition and course requires accuracy. Great practice course and the $ is unbeatable.

City courses

As far as city courses go this is defiantly the best one. It is usually in decent enough shape that you don't feel ripped off. The greens are nice but the fairways leave a lot to be desired. Fall/winter play is very hard with the amount of trees on the course but if you are a good shot its my pick for winter play. No one is ever there in the winter. Not the best course but if your learning and live in the city. This is the only place i would go to.
