This course is not a 4 star. The course is short and boring. What made this place seem low rated was the pathetic excuse for sand (I should say sand/rock) traps. I had to pick the small stones out of the area of the ball before hitting and pretty much all of the traps were in the same poor condition. Unless the traps actually get some sand in them I won't be back.

I just had a great golf experience and really need to share it. This course is challenging but totally enjoyable. I am not a great golfer by any means but I do enjoy a good course with a great pace of play and that's what the Mainlands is. I golf all over the area and I found this course worth every penny. It wasn't expensive and didn't charge me for things I don't need or use that some other course charge you for. I can't wait to come back again and again. Our foursome had a fantastic day laughing and having a good time with the helpful friendly staff. As if the course wasn't picturesque enough we saw a beautiful bald eagle nesting. AMAZING! The food was a good price and tasty and the bathrooms were clean. So from the first tee to the 18th green I highly recommend taking your family and friends to this course as soon as possible.

Short and tight with tons of out bounds. Another course that tries to make up for a lack of distance with sloping greens and questionable pin placements. Usually kept in good shape though. Par 5's are rather disappointing. Strange to have a par 3 for both the 16th and 17th hole. Greens can be on the slow side.

This is a very nice short course that is a wonderful value ($17 to walk early bird special weekday) Although short, there are plenty of unique and interesting holes. Uphill holes, downhill holes, doglegs, and water on a few that only adds to the beauty of the hole. The maintainance was great and the greens were in good condition, tricky breaks but fair nonetheless. They have logo balls for the logo ball lover like myself, a huge plus. I can't think of a single negative thing to say other than the pace of play was brutally slow despite the rangers best efforts to keep play moving. However the isn't the fault of the course as the benefits draw in a lot of golfers. My reccommendation would be to play as early as you can or late afternoon to avoid some of the crowd. Overall rating A.

This is one of those courses you play becaue you live near it and you wanna get your golf clubs wet but would never let your friends know that you were in there. The course just doesn't inspire one in any way...consistently boring from one hole to the next. The food at the bar isn't very good either....had a dried up wrap sandwich there with the driest pickle I've ever had...I gave it 3 stars still because it is maintained fairly well and the staff are very friendly (of course I would've said the opoosite had I written this review couple of months ago...the old starter they apparently got rid of recently was someone I'd like to take out to the parking lot and beat the crap out of....).

Played this course on Memorial Day. Staff was extremely friendly. Course was well manicured with some tricky greens. Nice views and many interesting holes. Not too difficult but you must pay attention to what is in front of you. Bag the driver on many holes and be will enjoy your round.

We really enjoyed playing here. The staff is friendly, and the course while not too long still presents challenges. Course is also designed well. You're definitely not using your driver on every par 4 & 5. Many of the greens were deceiving. The course was well maintained, fairways are rewarding and a lot of the rough is just that. The Whiskey River Grille was a great place as well.

Good value at $25 after 4pm, will definitely be back.

Fun course, short, shot maker style, and good to walk. Great for iron development. From whites 220-240 off the tee is all you need. While not great in elevation change many fairways up to 40' dips in front of the greens are ready to goggle up short or heavily spun approaches. Greens at the time of this review were very fast and true...dare I say topping several CC's in the DelVal. Most slope from back to front and have pleanty of break. A few are severe and over hit putts can roll off the front. 8 (I think) ranks in the bear category. They are a super test and raise the difficulty of play quite a bit here. Fairways conditionally were on par with decent pub courses in the area. Some of the aeration refuse was scattered along the side of several holes on the back side. Didnt get that. Couple quirky holes that may take a time or two figure out. The one bending par 5 come to mind. Very reasonably priced and perhaps the best value in the Phila area. Great 19th hole. Will be back!

The course was in real nice shape. Played the round in 4:15 which is really quick for a public course. My only complaint is with the golfers at this course. Is it too much to fix your ball mark on the green? On every hole I must have fixed a minimum of five ball marks. It's evident that the staff tries to keep this under control but the golfers must take responsibilty. Oh yeah - at the turn the incredible hot chick serving beer was really cool along with the ranger who went out of his way to get us a bag of ice for our purchase. I'll be back really soon.

Played this course with the wife today. I played from the tips and she from the reds. A very "woman friendly" course, with decent length holes from the reds. The staff there is very friendly and accomodating. They had a league going out when we got there. They had a young man escort us out to back "9" and started us on number 12 to avoid the crowds. The go the extra mile for sure. I will definitely play here again. Only $25 for twi light rate. Restaurant on scene "Whiskey River" had good food and tons of Whiskey and Bourbon if thats your thing. Club house is small but decently stocked.

Well maintained course! The first three holes are nice, but wait until you cross the street! The rates are good for twilight and the pace is comfortable for the beginner.

I've had great fun there with friends, and plan to go back for more.

Great course for any golfer. The begginer is not forced to carry shots into the green - you can roll the ball onto the putting surface. The experience golfer will like the temptation to "go for it" on some of the short par 4s. The only thing lacking is a "halfway house" that is open when you make the Mainland the turn is at the furthest part from the clubhouse unlike most courses that bring you back at the turn. Unfortunately most of the time it is closed...doesn't make sense.
