Nice layout and greens are a decent speed. A lot of out of bounds to the left of tee boxes but plenty of places to bail to the right. The first hole is a bit of a bear to start with considering no driving range. A few quirky holes but mostly straight forward. Island green par 3 is nice except for the drop area. They encourage you to use drop area but you may be better off teeing up shot 3 from the tee box. Would be 4 out 5 stars if people fixed their ball marks. Greens really take a beating but fairways seem to be in fairly good shape most of the time. Worth a 45 minute to 1 hour drive IMO.

I played this course yesterday for the second time this year. In early spring, the fairways were not in good shape. Yesterday I found no improvement and the tee boxes had a lot to be desired. The price was outragious at $47 for a course in this bad. The layout of the course still remains one of my favorites in the area.

This course is one of the prettiest you'll play. It's extremely well maintained. I found one of the staff at the pro shop unfriendly, the rest of the staff were very friendly. The course is not penal but it does have teeth. You have to concentrate all the way around. Course is much better with the two new holes on the back nine replacing the two holes that left you scratching your head after playing them. This is a pretty course, Check out the seventh hole from the second tee, very scenic! There's alot of good courses in Montgomery County and Bella Vista is among the best.

played this summer and was pleasantly surprised at the layout. it was in very good shape and everyone working there was really nice. i dont know what is is with courses in the area, but do they need to build these cookie cutter neighborhoods on top of the course? that is my only real gripe with the course. legit island green on the back 9 is a kneeknocker even with a wedge in hand, really cool hole

Beautiful course and well maintained. Challenging but well sized fairways not to penalize you.

Played for the first time today (9-21-09). Awesome course. Staff VERY friendly. Took some time to get speed of greens down, but once I did they rolled true. Some close homes on a handful of holes. Nice layout and maintenance is above average. Even though it is a tough course it really doesn't punish you. A must play in the area!

This is a must play for this area. Good balance of moderate difficulty, beautiful scenic settings, fast but fair greens, variation from hole to hole, elevation changes, friendly starter, etc. make this course a pleasure to play in. For the price, it's simply one of the best in the area. The island green is also a nice touch, you can pretend you're playing at Sawgrass... I've payed the same money to play in relatively dump of courses, so this place always stands out.

Nice course usually in all around, good shape....I've played much harder courses with lower ratings than the 137 here from the backs... not over challenging but hard enough to make you feel like you've played pretty well if you shoot a good score...a must play in the phila area

This is a very nice course. It was a challenge for my low handicapper friend and yet not terribly difficult for me. It is lined with houses, however. There is also a TPC-style island green which could either be characterized as refreshing or gimmicky. Very good condition and has elevation changes which I like. There is no driving range and no obvious place to chip before the round, mainly because this was like so many others a real estate play. All in all, I would definitely go back.

Well maintained, very attractive course with challenging holes requiring careful ball placement and club selection. This is a "thinking man's" course that requires strategy and attention. Quite a few blind shots from the tees, and stray drives can lead to blind 2nd shots as well. Staff is very friendly and helpful, and pace of play is about average for Montgo County courses. Overall, a challenging and enjoyable golfing experience. I do think, though, that the island green 14th is a bit overhyped: short par 3 with a green so homongous that it's hard not to put it on the carpet even with a mis-hit, although a bad swing can lead to a mile long lag putt. All in all, this is one of the best public tracks in SE PA, and certainly one of the most consistently well maintained.

My friends and I venture out to this course at least once per year (we come from New Jersey, Rhode Island and our sandbagging friend is local) to play in the annual Bella Vista Invitational (the "BVI"). No, this is not a course sanctioned event but rather 4 college buddies having at it on the links because this is the closest we will ever get to competitive golf. As a matter of fact we are playing our annual event this coming Friday, August 8. If you are not doing anything come check us out, tee time is 2pm. One of us actually eagled #10 but prior to teeing off on #18 that same individual had to dump so badly he actually dropped his drawers behind the tee box and let her rip. He had to use his underwear as toilet paper before leaving it out on the course for the animals (he now carries his own roll in his golf bag). I think the Omelete he had earlier in the round got him. Anyway, great course and I think they should hold the PGA Championship here at some point.

This is a very nice public course. It is deceptively difficult in places and requires accurate tee shots on many of the shorter holes. The only problem - and it is a big one - is pace of play on weekends. While you will never play a 4 1/2 hour round on public course in Montgomery County, a 6 hour round (as has happened several times) is unacceptable.
