Place was terrible. The only 'pro' of playing there was the pace of play because there was only one other group on the course at 9:50AM. I called 2 weeks ahead of time and they never mentioned the back nine was closed. Fairways were in the condition of a poorly maintained yard. Greens were brown, weeds growing on them, and cut very high. It was almost too hard to putt past a hole. I rated the difficulty a 3.5 only due to the fact it was nearly impossible to make a putt or hit from hard pan. Trash cans overflowing on every hole from the day before (unless the foursome of women in front of us drank 50 beers a hole). It almost felt OK to litter around the garbage cans. The best part about this course was the fact we called the pro shop after we finished our round. We asked what the going rate was for 18 holes and a cart was. They gave us the price and again NEVER mentioned the fact that the back nine being closed. We also asked what the condition of the course was and the quote was 'not great shape but pretty good.' Unfortunately, we were in from out of town and didn't realize this place was so bad. I've been golfing for nearly 20 years and this by far and away is the worst maintained course I've ever seen. I actually don't know how this place is open. If you're in from out of town, I'd strongly suggest looking elsewhere, even if it means driving another 20 miles.

We have played this course at least twice each summer for the past 30 years. It has changed hands a lot, but normally improved with new ownership. Not so this time. This course is so neglected that it is nearly beyond repair. The greens are completely dried out, looking like a throw rug that you could pick up by the corner and lift off. It was obvious that cups had not been cut for weeks. The entire course has bare spots, quack grass, plus debris laying about. Tee areas are weedy and unkempt. The biggest insult of all is that they have the nerve to charge $43 + a $3 gas surcharge to play this cow pasture. The only play they are going to get is from unsuspecting tourists who are lured in by the "country club" sign. I can guarantee that any local will drive the extra miles to play one of the other courses in the area, with lower green fees more than making up for the cost of transportation..simply because the course is so shabby. In addition, the snack bar is not open Sunday - Tuesday, so one cannot even enjoy a beverage or lunch after the round. It seems apparent that the new owners are not golfers, and are more interested in getting their new restaurant off the ground than maintaining and developing what could be a fine golf course. I think they have really missed the mark as they are the only public course in the immediate area with potential, while there are many fine restaurants in the area.

Could gbe a nice place---and was when it was The Willows---place BUT now has poor service.....lack of business savvy due to not returning customer calls....even the website is not maintained, and it is APRIL!!! Managed in a very "amateur" manner.

I played there last summer on a visit to Lake Erie. Lost a lot of balls, very narrow fairways with a lot of water.
Played a lot better courses in the area.

Very pricey for the overall cheapness. I've played much, much nicer courses for the same price (or less!). Disappointed.

Great resort

I have just discovered that the Islander has a public pool and a tiki bar. It has sand volleyball, bocce ball and even corn hole. It was awesome. They also have a really nice "fine" dining restaurant without the stuffiness. Prices not bad at all. Overall, this is great for the family, golf, pool, sports, food and cocktails...what more could you ask for?

Know what you're getting into

This is a very fun course to play. But be prepared for poor service. I've had sprinklers turned on greens while I'm putting. Staff that didn't show up until 7:30 despite my having a 7:00 tee time. And grounds crew mowing and weed eating around tees while I'm trying to tee off. If you can put up with the poor service, the course itself is fun and scenic.
