My buddy (4 index) and I (8 index) are heading to Pebble for a club corp charity tourney 12/8 to 12/13 and was wondering if anyone knew a way to get an invite to play Cypress Point, my number 1 bucket list course. I've been very fortunate this year playing numerous bucket list courses and was hoping to top it off by requesting for my dream course. Our free day is 12/12. I hope someone can help out a fellow golf nut.

If anyone can get me on this course I will get you onto Bethpage Black for free. Being that any non-NY resident would have to sleep in the lot overnight to get on the Black, I'm hoping that a current member would like to take me up on this offer.

Cypress Point RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Easily the number 1 golf course on the planet. Dr.MacKenzie takes you on a grand tour of golf course design and finishes with a grand finale on 15,16,17,18. The 18th hole was never completed to MacKenzie's specs, which was to have the 18th tee on a rock outcropping out in the ocean with a suspension bridge leading to it, which would finish this in an even grander finale than it already does. With coastal commissions and enviromental issues as they are today, I fear that this hole will never be able to be completed to MacKenzie's satifaction. This course is not about amenities and maintenance practices, but about the pure design quality of golf courses. If you ever have the opportunity to play here, cancel your daughter's wedding and get over here!

I played Cypress Point for the first and likely only time :( April 30, 2008. It's easily the best, most complete golf course I've ever played. I found every hole interesting - many of them spectacular. After the scenery on holes 14 through 17, the 18th can't compare visually, but I found it very interesting nonetheless. I challenge any first-time player to stand on that tee box and decide where to hit the tee shot. Mackenzie very cleverly hid the fairway from view, and if my caddie hadn't told me to hit it left of the left-most tall cypress, I might still be standing there scratching my head. The first tee shot over the 17 Mile Drive, the "disappearing" sand traps on four and five, the total integration of the middle holes into the dunes, the 220 yard 16th over the ocean, the "bite off all you can handle" 17th and the "mysterious" 18th add up to make this the most fabulous course I've ever seen. Add in the impeccable maintenance and strict adherance to Mackenzie's original design, and this course is easily "top 5 material".

There is no course that can compare to Cypress Point Club. Each hole stirrs the soul as you roam these sacred grounds. The club has maintained every aspect of the club to its original specifications. If a tree falls, they replace it with a likeness so it plays as it did when it was opened. Walking this course among the deer, sea spray, and ghosts of the past bring the golfer to a soulful place that one never forgets.

I would say to Bradshaw that this is probably the greatest 17 hole course in the world. However, the 18th hole leaves a lot to be desired and a total letdown especially after 15, 16 and 17 on the ocean side of 17 mile drive. Because of that, a 9.7 or 9.8 out of 10!

Although I have never played either course,
If i had to make a choice,
between Pebble and Cypress,
it would be Cypress.
