Pitman is a course that I am very familiar with since I live nearby. I play golf all over the Delaware Valley and I must say that this course rates right with the other publics I play. Pitman is NOT Pine Valley, folks. It's run by Gloucester County and they do not always get the water ration they really need for the fairways and greens, but they make the best of it. During rationing years, other course in the county seem to get preference. Pitman is an old course (1923) that I first played back in 1986 and it has improved greatly since the county took it back over from Ron Jaworski in the ealry to mid-90's. It can be challenging depending upon where you hit your tee shot (obviously...) on most holes. It can also get you one of your best scores ever. Great for the money, in my opinion; especially if you can register as a Gloucester County resident each year and play the course more than one or two times. Orist Wells, the pro, is a real pro and a good man. His lessons are He runs a good course. I recommend it highly.

Played this course today and found the greens and fairways in good shape. The tee boxes were pretty beat up. I couldn't understand why the restaurant was closed for lunch since the parking lot was half full.
The price was too high for a senior rate of $41 to ride.

Just got back from a twilight round here. $23.00 to walk this course is an extremely good value. Its nice to see a course charge that green fee and actually give people sand mix to fill in their divots, shows they actually give a ****. The staff and starter were very friendly and accommodating. The tee boxes weren't perfect but not that bad either. Fairways were in decent to good shape, as most people do fill in their divots. The greens were very slow today due to recent rain but rolled true nonetheless. Some holes were rather short but there are a couple 400+ yard par 4s and a couple of very pretty par 3s over hazards. A great value and I would definitely return.

Not a bad course for a public course. The greens usually get pretty beat up by the end of the summer though. I played around Memorial Day and the greens were in good shape. But late last year they were pretty beat up. Nice scenery and staff usually doesnt bother you.

Who are you people saying the couse was in excellent shape. I played on Labor Day and the greens were terrible. Worst shape I've seen on any course this year.

I would suggest that when someone is paying $49.00 for a round of golf here, that they are told about the work being done on the greens before you take their money. Makes for a bad business practice.

Well-maintained and very well laid out - another Alex H. Findlay masterpiece. Friendly staff. Excellent practice green and driving range with a bunker for a warmup. Greens are immaculate. Fairways are wide and easy to hit, but there's some challenging holes as well. 11 is listed as the #2 handicap but it's TOUGH. Excellent course, I liked it so much I got a membership.
