Asheville Muni Golf Course

For a municipal course in the heart of North Kakalaka, AshvilleMuni is great! The greens were in great shape compared to the other place we played. My friend Wayne just bought a house onthe course so we'll be playing here alot. You should too!

I played this course this afternoon. It was a gorgeous late fall day with a gentle wind blowing and temps in the mid 70's. The area is in some dire need of rain...and the fairways reflect this. A number of the tee boxes ere closed in order to grow some grass on them...so the yardage was shorter than usual. All this being said..the course was in reasonble shape...and at $35 for 18 holes with a cart on a weekend in primetime..I thought is was great. The front nine is wiiiide open. What you see is what you get. The Par threes could have used better yardage markings. I saw a yardage maker on two of them. The rest I had o rely on my judgement. The back nine is a little trickier. Some narrow fairways...and blind approach shots. The par 5 14th hole doesn't allow you to hit a driver off the tee....you have to hit a mid to long iron so you don't hit through the fairway...assuming you hit it straight. If you can draw your driver....you'd be in good shape! The bunkers aren't bad for a muni course...the sand was just that...sand. My wife rode with me and said to make sure it gets points for havng bathrooms and water at srategic points along the course. The fairways were certainly wide enough...although on the back..the fairways sloped either left of right....forcing you to hit the high side of the fairway. Other than that..I thought it was a fair course...and one which I will play again. Being a Muni course..it was crowded and it was slow.it took a 2some 4.5hrs to play 18...and THAT is probably my only complaint!
