I did not get to play, my 10:20 t-time on Saturday 11/04/17 was not valid. According to Henry the course was closed for a tournament. Henry said I needed to contact Golflink to insure I was not charged for the round. I was not successful contacting Golflink since their customer service is not available on the weekends. I left a message. We will see how this plays out!

Great Southern is the older course on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and it shows. The heritage is rich all around the course, from the old oaks that have been there since before the course to the distance markers on the tee box. This course really is a masterpiece.

Best location on the Mississippi Gulf Coast for golf! Also, the oldest course in MS. Greens are in GREAT winter condition as of 2/3/2011. Value is hard to beat anywhere. $30.00 for a round of golf including the cart!

We played at this course August 25,2010,and when we first pull up seeing that the Club House was a single-wide trailer,I throught we had made a mistake, but after getting on the course,we recogized that the course was a first class Golf Course, and was very impress of the lay out.
The course had the ocean scenery view, challenging, and well maintenance Fairways, and the Greens was up to Par,and two Restrooms, and for $25 you couldn't beat it.

Fantastic layout. The greens are very slow and the course could use some TLC. Hard to complain for $25 and had the place to myself. With an overhaul this could be an outstanding golf course. It is still obvious the toll Katrina had on this place. If you are in the area it's worth paying a visit.

we played this course in 2008, and plan to return this year. considering what the coutse has been through, it is in good shape.

Reviewed July 22, 2008

Course is still recovering from Hurricane Katrina. Some of the greens are still in pretty rough shape. However, it was a fun, inexpensive, uncrowded course to play; and there are some great views of the Gulf of Mexico.

all prices included round and cart. weekday is $30, weekend is $40, after 2pm is $25, 9 holes weekday and weekend are $20, and if ur going to walk the course it is still the same price as with cart. my name is adam suydam. i am the mechanic/anything else they need me to do at great southern golf club. oh yeah we dont have any rental clubs or a pro as of right now. as of right now it is first come first served. no public tee times are needed. we are working on this option right now. we lost our pro shop in katrina. the course is built back but all of our files, pro shop options (tee times, clothing, ect.), and grill still need time to come back. we dont have a grill, but we do have beer and cokes. the pro shop is a temp trailer for now. no 4,18, putting and chipping green have been rebuilt and are playable as of aug 2007. if u have any questions call us at 228-896-3536 or if u have a question for me email me at also we dont have a website right now. so dont click that it wont take u anywhere. i am thinking about making one. will update u if i do.

update for yall. we now have a grill. limited food but at least it hot food. we have hamburgers, hotdogs, blt, breakfast sandwiches, club sandwiches, daily specials, and i know i am missing something. oh well. at least we have food now.

A lot of history on this course. They are doing a pretty good job of recovering from Katrina. Great veiws over the Gulf and a fun course to play.

Some nice views of the gulf. Greens were in pretty good shape. One of the yardages on the par 3's was way off. A great bargain for $30. I really like the layout-could have used at least a drawing of some of the holes, as they have hidden ditches with water that can get you into trouble.

Reviewed October 06, 2007

Holes 4 & 18 overlook the Gulf, thus windy. Still recovering from Hurricane Katrina but making headway.

Reviewed October 05, 2007

This course has many maintenance issues. The greens were very patchy and the course littered with debris. It's a course to play if you're just looking to go out for some fun and not take you're game too seriously.

This Course was Great before Hurricane Katrina but sustained heavy damage! Call before you go for repair update!

Great Southern Club is located directly across the road from the Gulf of Mexico. When the winds are onshore it creates a very challenging course. The fairways and greens a generally in Good shape year round. The Pro there, "Tracey" is his name I think, is great to work with. This course is well worth a visit. After a great round at the Great Southern Club, we always cap off the day with a visit to one of the Gulf's finest resturants, "Mary Mahoney's"
