Persimmon Woods Golf Club , Saint Charles, MO

Played here in June 2005 and loved it. A variety of holes makes it fun to play... some brutes and some good birdie chances. Well-conditioned. Scenic. The 18th is the best closing hole I have ever played... true drama!

I have been a member here for 5 years now and having belonged to 3 other clubs in St Louis, this is still my favorite. First, what PW is not. It's not a country club, no pool, no tennis, no big fancy clubhouse. It's all about golf. Around 1/3 of the membership are single digit handicaps. Rounds gerernally are played in 3.5 hours, maybe 4 hours on the weekend. Any longer and you have a conversation with on of the pros.

The course itself is moderately tough, but very fair. There are no gimmicky holes. This year, we stretched the course to 7,000, par 71. With 5 par 3s, that's equal to a tradional par 72 playing to 7200 yards. The MO State AM was played here three years ago, and the Super let the rough grow and the greens harden up, and no one broke par during stroke play qualifying.

The ownership continues to make capital improvements on the course to keep you with technology.

This course is a great track! There exists a pleasent mix of birdie holes and tougher holes where you find yourself scrambling for par. I highly doubt anybody in the world could go driver 9 iron into the final hole seeing that it is a 541 yard par 5 with no downhill elevation off the tee shot! Im a long hitter myself and after piping one straight down the center I was left with a 5 iron! The only way to reach this one in two with driver 9 iron is if you play in january and you use the frozen ground to crush a drive and then bounce your secind off the frozen pond and onto the green!

Not a very tough course but a fun one. There are some really awesome holes especially no 5, a short par 3 into a pretty large green with water to the right. Its a pretty wide open course. The most fun part of the course is what the members like to call the 2,000 yards of love. It is 4 holes strung together. 8, 9,10,and 11. Which includes two par 4s and two par 5s. The closing hole is one of not toughness but of scenery. I saw a young kid from KU go driver 9 iron to the green. With the club house as a back drop and very nice pond on the right makes for a cool closing hole.
