Great course love the scenery. Tie Box conditions could be better. But besides that great course. Fast greens, nice fairways, and lots of water.

I was surprised to see that the reviews for this course were low, but I noticed they are all from a few years ago. I am fairly new to the area so I don't know the reputation of this course, but I really like it.

Played this course today for the second time (first time playing a full 18) and was very impressed. First, this is a really fun course to play. I thought the course itself was pretty unique and made for some interesting shots. The water on almost every hole and the fairway bunkers can make driving difficult, and some of the approach shots were fairly tricky. Overall I thought the course was in excellent condition and I hope they can keep it like that throughout the hot months this summer. Finally, I thought the price was excellent. I walked 18 in the evening for about $20. I will definitely be going back soon.

I've played this course I guess three times now, and every time I come back saying how rude the staff is. The course is nice, and challenging, but yardages are poorly marked. This course has a great location, nice views, and set up well, I just wish I felt welcome. GPS would go a long way.

This golf course is over priced for the condition of the fairways and greens. It is a fun course to play though.

Get ready to walk

We played this course in the fall of 2006 and it was cart path only. The fairways were still a soggy mess and the course was pretty torn up. It's a very narrow course and there were balls coming and going everywhere. We did not find it worth the cost of the greens fees.

aside from the fairways, a nice course

I played this course at the end of January on a 55 degree day just after a snow melted. The course superintendent did a good job getting the greens in good, consistent condition, and I'm pretty sure this is why play was delayed until about 11:30 in the morning, even though all the fairways and greens were clear of snow when we arrived at 10 (except hole 1 which remained closed, being the only hole on a northern slope). The greens were in excellent shape, and although slow, were not soggy at all (I saw the maintenance crew using a blower on a green before we began play). We played from the middle tees, and it was a moderately challenging course from there. Plenty of water in play, but no forced carries. Accuracy from the tee was quite important, as many of the fairways were narrow, and there usually being either water or large fairway bunkers on one or both sides. I can definitely see this course being quite a challenge from the back tees, requiring very demanding second shots, but it is still a good challenge for the high handicapper from the middle tees, without being oppressive. There is a nice driving range (though a bit on the expensive side), and a good sized practice green, but they are located at the 10th hole, and this is not a double loop course. It goes out to 10, and comes back in to the clubhouse. So it's either drive to the range, then load the clubs back up and drive to the club house, or a nearly 10 minute cart ride (and another back). The fairways are being converted to zoysia (all at once), so hope your ball lands in the 6" wide zoysia strips, because the rest of the fairway is sparse and clumpy. I imagine that in another year or so, this will be a fine course. considering the shape of the fairways though, I would not recommend paying full price here in the regular season in 2007.

Give it another 5 years...

My foursome was very disappointed in Crystal Springs Quarry. They are replacing their fairways with Zoysia. They failed to warn us when we made our tee time that all the fairways had recently been torn out, that the course would be cart-path only in the summer heat, that we'd have to lift and place our ball to avoid hitting off the zoysia and that increased watering would render the course a swampy mess. We were told of all of this after we were already checked in and ready to play. No discount was offered. We won't be returning. This course is NOT worth $55.
