I have played the course three times this year (spring, summer, & fall) and it has been in very good shape all 3 times through various conditions. Pretty typical for Aberdeen over the years in my opinion. Even in aerated condition, the greens putted fairly fast.
Not a lot of amenities overall, for example limited food options and a small selection of golf gear available, but the staff is good and play always seems to move along pretty well. I haven't experienced any painful 5 hour rounds and I've played the course probably 15-20 times.
There aren't very many links-type courses in the area, so if you like that sort of golf, I think you'll enjoy Aberdeen. I'm a 12 handicap, and from the tips it presents an excellent challenge (about 7000 yds)

A little slice of true links golf in STL

This is a pretty faithful rendition of links golf. Very minor non-truly-pure-links-like would be the lakes; though even then they only come into play on a few holes, and only one drive over water is required. A row of trees separate the front and back nine, and the holes do not go nine out and nine in. But, really, these are pretty trivial. The course is kept in very good shape, and the staff friendly. I really enjoyed the challenge and variety of the holes, the bunkering is very well placed requiring accuracy and strategy, and the many-contoured greens demand a keen eye to read the breaks and a steady putting hand to hit the speed. The cost is average for the area, and you do pay for a very well upkept course. If you are craving links-style golf, do not hesitate to give this course a try!
