The Jewel of Grand Blanc is under new ownership as of April 29, 2009. The last comment was when it was under old ownership. The Jewel has a full service restaurant called Paddy McGees that opens at 6am and closes at midnight. They have all you can eat Spaghetti and Meatballs on Thursday night, all u can eat Fish Fry on Friday nights, Buy 1 Chicken Rotisserie Dinner and get the 2nd 50% off on Sundays. The food is fantastic. Live Entertainment on August 21, 2009 with Bill Tucker. The golf course is in great shape. Newly filled sand traps, 100 new golf carts, the greens are in great shape. The Jewel has been called the Gem of Grand Blanc by the Flint Journal and the Grand Blanc View. Come visit our new staff and great accomodations.

If you like rude and unprofessional staff, then you should love Grand Blanc Golf and Country Club. My best friend recently got married and decided to have the reception there. I have to say, the place is very beautiful, but within the first half hour, guests were coming up to the bridal party table in droves to tell us exactly how rude the staff was being. The bride had instructed that just the bar be shut down during dinner, but they were giving guests problems about even serving them water or other non alcoholic beverages during dinner. How many people do you know that like to eat without having something to wash it down? Closing the bar down should not have caused people to not be able to drink during dinner. The young female bartender behind the bar was consistantly unprofessional and kept giving people attitude. The head chef that was working that evening even told guests "You guys are killing me!", this was told to them when they were simply asking for WATER with dinner. Gee, not that hard of a problem to find a solution for! Get some pictures and have your staff pass them out to each table. Then as if the rudeness wasn't bad enough, they closed the bar down a half hour early stating that the police had already been there. I thought that that seemed awfully strange seeing as it was one of the most tame wedding receptions I had ever been too. No one was acting crazy, no one was being belligerent, no one was sick... I didn't see where the problem was, so I simply asked "What? Why were the police here?" The respoonse I got from the head cook insulted me greatly. He mocked me to my face and in front of many wedding party guests including the bride and groom. His response went something like this "What??? Don't you what me!" I couldn't believe my ears. The bride had to check him on the fact that he had no right to be rude to me. When asked to explain why he was closing the bar down early to the bride. He stated that "we couldn't just to expect to come into somewhere and drink all of their liquor." Hmmm... interesting seeing as the bride and groom paid to have an open bar! My suggestion to anyone thinking about using the Grand Blanc Golf and Country Club for any kind of important event would be to NOT do it. If you do, please be sure that you state you are paying for an open bar. Read the contract carefully. I think that if they thought an individual had had too much to drink it would have been a lot better to cut that specific individual off. Instead, they cutoff the whole party. Not the greatest thing to do to a bride and groom on their wedding night. You be the judge!
