A really good golf course. The layout is great and so are conditions. Jerry Matthews design. It's a pleasant treat in the small town of Belding.

My wife and I had a great time here last spring. Stayed the night in the newly remodeled hotel and played golf. The newly remodeled restaurant was also very impressive. One of the best things of the entire stay was the friendly staff. The new owners have stuck a lot of money in this place inside and out and it shows! Would recommend a stay and play anytime!

PS Not sure what is up with the rating system as its seems messed up. I gave this place a 4 1/2 stars.....only wish is they would run more stay and play deals.

Played this course 6/3/2009. Excellent condition, Tee to green.
The changes the new owners have made and are making, makes this course worth the drive! A Challenging track!

Tough tough course. Maintenance is subpar just like the facility. Pro shop not much bigger than my bathroom. How about the prices, come on guys, get a clue... this is Belding not Holland or Ludington. If they maintained the course like Thornapple Pointe or Quayle Ridge than I could see maybe $45 on the weekend. This course should be $25 with cart all week.

Course itself was not too bad but the staff leaves much to be desired. My group had a misunderstanding with the pro shop on payment of 9 holes vs 18. After making the turn the on staff pro came racing out blowing a whistle and demanded we leave as if we were teenage hoodlums. We were humiliated but it didn't end there. He and another employee followed us out to our car. We tried to explain the misunderstanding and offered to pay. But, they insisted on kicking us out and making a scene. My husband and I are avid golfers, we own a business and 3 homes in Belding. I hope this is not an indicator of the new ownership/management at Candlestone. I would not recommend this course to any of my friends or business partners. If you have to golf in the Belding area - Ridgeview is a very nice (small) course and the owner is a pleasure to do business with. Also nearby is Cedar Chase - excellent course, good people and cheaper that Candelstone!!!

A beautifully designed, scenic and sprawling course which could be the area's crown jewel if better maintained. Generally long fairways and fast greens. Somewhat over-priced and suited to the above average golfer.

Candlestone is a fun and challenging place to play golf. The only problem lately for them is there prices. On weekends in the heart of golf season, it would take a fifty dollar bill to play a round there. They would get alot more play from customers if they just dropped their prices by ten bucks. It plays quite long from the blue tees. It has lots of foilage and deep thick grass to contend with. It is a good site for the annual West Michigan Amatuer that is held there every year in the mid to late spring. It is a true test and a fun place to play, as all good golf courses should be.
