The 18-hole "The Meadows" course at the Meadows Golf Club At GVSU facility in Allendale, Michigan features 7,034 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. Very nice for a public course. Unfortunately has to be open to general public because it's on a public university campus, but there aren't too many riffraff college kids mucking up the course. Etiquette is fairly well observed for a public, college course. DEEP discounts for students, worthless discounts for alumni. Challenging yet very playable, well maintained quasi-links style course. Good food and booze at the clubhouse, too. Clubhouse is great for a public course!

Very demanding from the tee. Well placed drives will set you up for a run at par. Be careful of the fairway bunkers and water hazards.

One of my favorite courses. I golfed here all the time when I was a student (GREAT DISCOUNT), but haven't golfed here since. Would rather play (pay) a cheaper course.

nice, but don't know what all the hype is about

This is a nice links-style course. I don't know what all the hoopla is about this course, though. I did my graduate studies at GVSU, so got a mediocre student discount and have played the course at least 20 times, and I would say that it is pretty much a mid-to-high end course that gets way too much play. My undergrad course was probably about 10x better, and they only allowed students and members of the president's club to play the course, not anybody and everybody.
