Terrible course conditions. Normally shots short of the green would be rewarded with nice grass to chip off of, instead this was patches of mud that was highlighted by areas of crab-grass. The only reason the course was challenging was because of the poor standard of the course.

9/23/07 Sunday: Front 9 Fairly open grip it and rip it territory with a few scenic holes; Back 9 is mildly "Claustrophoebic" with water, trees, overhead wires (which I hit of course), a wooden pole with a nice bunker near it so your ball can fall into it after it hits the overhead wires/pole; then when you try to get out of the bunker, a nice little stream in front of the green is waiting for the "fat shot" youre going to hit out of the bunker in your attempt to put it on the green to save par. after you "hole out or surrender" and walk away grinding your teeth, be comforted that many others have done this before you and many will do the same after you. Cart paths are unpaved, bumpy with rocks so be sure to use extra Fixodent. Because of the dust created by your cart, Be considerate of the cart behind you.....especially if
they're women, or they will leave YOU in the dust after the round. Fairways are "Fair" and Greens are sneaky fast; some mild elevation changes throughout the course which will be directly proportional to your temperment . Price of Greens fees is a little "pricey" for the caliber of this course. Use a discount book if you can....and they will still charge you $56.00 for 2 people

Well to startoff this course was very easy to find, and the scenery is so beautiful i almost crossed 4 lanes on rt. 15. When i got to this course, I was greeted with such happiness and politeness. The assistant pro Jason wisner, was probably the most kind man i have ever encountered at any course i have ever played. He picked up my bag, and made sure i got everything i needed. WHen i went into the proshop, the breath went right out of me. The snack bar was great and the hot dogs were splendid. I only payed 28$ To play this "majestic" course. ON most of the holes you can see the whole town of thurmont. On hole 13 i hit a power line and knocked the line down. ALMOST GOT ELECTRICUTED!!!! ahhhh!! But afterr that i was greeted by the "breath taking" 14th hole, there is a stone wall up the fairway that is very visible to the naked eye.. THis course was probably the best course i have ever played. THe holes are beautiful, the food is great, and the staff is very polite and helpful. THe only thing i didnt like was that we got stuck behind a group of "woo's" And it took us 5 hours. But it was all worth it. The maintenence is magnificent, and Steve Hubbard is pprobably one of the most cunning maintenece specialist i have ever seen. If it wasnt for him, this course would be alot like sleepy hollow. I love this course and i recommend that everyone looking for a fun time at a good course should come and play here. Loved it.

This course is very nice for the price and considering the amount of traffic on it. If people could remember to replace divots and such this course can be very nice!

Maple Run is like golfing two seperate nine holes. The front is more open with undulating greens and a few scenic views. The back nine winds its way through forest with a power line that bisects two fairways (of course I hit one of them for a 100 yard drive). A stream comes into play on the back nine, but I found the back nine to be a bit "distracting". If you only have time to play nine holes, go for the front nine, it has some picturesque holes (1, 4, 5, and 6). The first hole, a par 5, is the hardest on the course. Hole 6 offers extensive views towards Thurmont (or Emmitsburg). For the price I paid (with coupon- $18 total), it was worth the round. For the regular price, I'd be tempted to play elsewhere. Staff was extremely friendly!
