Nice track. Usually the greens are smooth and fast. Grass range is nice. I use to play this course a lot but have gotten out of that habit.

I was also disappointed that there were no hole maps, nor a range book available. In my round on last Saturday, I got confused and hard to find greens. For example, in 9th hole, at tee box, you can see a green over the lake. But, it's not the green for that hole. The green is on the left side. Plus, the overall course layout is so boring. I'd rather play at Needwood or Redgate, instead.

Blue Mash is the best maintained golf course in Montgomery county. I would recommend picking up the $2 yardage book in the pro shop for the first timers playing the course. Overall an awesome layout with long open holes, par 3's over water, and a couple holes that go back into the woods. The best part about Blue Mash is a grass range tee! No warming up on those terrible mats. I highly recommend this course.

I was really disappointed that there were no diagrams of the holes at the tee box, nor a range book available. This is a tricky course with traps you can't see from the tee. It also would help to know how far the woods is from the tees on the doglegs. If you're a first timer, print out the course layout and take it with you. Sometimes its hard to figure out which green or fairway you're aiming for. The course is in pretty good shape and the club pro was a very nice guy.

Great conditioned golf course. Quite fair for today's modern penal designs. Fun to play, except a few too many greens where you hit it on & it runs off a slope. EVEN your 3rd shot!

Look for a Cool Day

Found the course itself to be in great shape. There was no information on the individual holes except your basic scorecard, no diagrams of individual holes on card or at the holes. As a first timer I really could have used that information. I would think for the price there would be a little more information available. Played when the temperature was 100+ and couldn't believe that it was cart path only! Have a friend that played Blue Mash and was told that it was cart path only because the grass was too dry. The sprinklers were going for us, so I guess it was too wet. Not sure when that just right day might be to avoid cart path only. Also, the beverage cart showed up on the 3rd hole and was never seen again. Fortunately there was plenty of water stops and the water was fairly cold.

Fantastic Arthur Hills Golf Course!

Great golf course - and it's designed by Arthur Hills, not Joseph Lee. Most people say it is tough, but I think it is very playable. No forced carries over wetlands, which is unusual these days, and not too hilly. Best conditioned golf course in suburban Maryland as far as the daily fees go. Great mix of holes. The first five and the last three holes are tough but great holes. There are birdie opportunities in between - really every hole is good. Huge all grass driving range. Short game areas. No houses anywhere. Nice clubhouse, staff was great. If you live anywhere near Montgomery County this is a great course to play.
