The 18-hole "Man O' War" course at the GlenRiddle Golf Club facility in Berlin, Maryland features 7,163 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. Designed by Joel Weiman, the Man O' War golf course opened in 2006.
We played this course on June 15 as part of our golf package. This was my least favorite of the 5 course we played (mainly because I played so bad).Amenities - We really didn't use any of the amenities other then the pro shop. It was well stocked and prices were about normal for a pro shop.Difficulty - We played Man O' War and with the long grass, and the extreme winds (British Open Strength it seemed like), it made this course play more difficult then it probably is. I would not recommend this course for beginners. Maintenance - It seemed that the maintenance staff had done a good job. Tee Boxes, Fairways and Greens were in good shape.Scenery - The scenery was nice. With the beach grass or whatever it's called, it kind of gives one the look and feel of playing a British Open type course. Coupled with the high winds they had in Ocean City last week, it also gave the feel.Value - It is hard to determine the value of a course like this. It was played as part of our package so based on what we paid for our package, and what the normal green fees are for the time we played, it appears as if we got a good value.Overall - Decent course, not impressed with the staff, not overly friendly. Seems like we no sooner arrived and they were rushing us to the first tee approximatley 15 minutes ahead of our time. This did me in as I felt rushed the rest of the day. Will play this course again in the future and hopefully with less wind.
Our group played here in April 2011. The layout is interesting and provides some challenges. We also played here 2 years ago and enjoyed it enough to come back. This time the conditions were terrible. Fairways had mud everywhere and the greens did not roll well at all. I thought this might be due to a heavy amount of rain, but every other course we played was in great shape. Might give this course another shot, but was very disappointed.
I played here in June/2010 and was a little disappointed with the conditions. Around a lot of the greens the course was beat up pretty good. It's the easier of the two courses at Glen Riddle, for the most part, it's wide open. See my full review at www.wamgolf.com
