nice and tough little course. Not the longest at 6600+ from the tips but it plays longer due to a lot of water coming into play on the front nine. Gotta be straight off the tee a lot with water/hazards to deal with on tee shots. I found myself hitting a lot of hybrids and 4 irons off the tee. The fairways were great, rough was penalizing and the greens were in fantastic shape, fast and true. Cant say much for the amenities b/c i didn't use them but they appeared to have a nice area inside the club house to get food/drink. Plenty of water to drink on the course. No drink cart but not a big deal. i scored well b/c i kept it in the short stuff. Id recommend the same. id come back if not just for the early bird 6-8am $30 rate.

River Bend Country Club is an excellent course, well designed, well maintained and challenging. The other aspect which makes the experience at River Bend unique is the outstanding staff at the facility. I have had the opportunity to play many courses and have had the opportunity to meet many golf professionals, however, the golf professional at River Bend, Lyman Doane, is the most outstanding golf professional I have had the priviledge of knowing. He is kind to all players, and very generous with his time and a great promoter of the game of golf. Overall, it is the people, Lyman, Joanne, Johnny and Chet that makes the golf experience so enjoyable. I play "The Bend" as many times as I can.

With all due respect, I strongly disagree with the review below mine. I'm a 16 handicap and didn't find this course hard at all. I will say however, that i broke my driver the day before and I played from the tips with 3 wood only and hitting hybrid 2 iron off most tees because my 3 wood is my worst club. Perhaps being forced into course management made me play much better. There is a lot of water on the course but in my opinion, most of it is NOT in play. Also the fairways are incredibly wide although there are sections where they get quite narrow and again, if I had driver perhaps I woulda been in more trouble. I shot a 91 including a 42 on the front 9 and I've never played the course before. I almost never break 100 when i play a course for the first time. Course was in great shape and the $30 early bird special for 18 holes with cart before 9 am M-F is a great deal for anyone that is able to play during those hours.

I find this course difficult.. Lots of water. The 1st tee never helps as it is one of the more difficult holes. Water to the right, water to the Left.. a hazard in front of the green and with no driving range, it gives me fits to start cold. The course has plenty of challenge and you better be able to place your shots! On the plus side, I had a Hole in One on the 17th, so this course has to always be a favorite.

Average price, one of the best local public courses for the greater Boston area.

The course was in great shape and a fun design but kind of laid out poorly. A lot of cart paths were directly into incoming tee shots from adjacent holes. If you don't mind keeping a heads up for many stray balls it's a great place to play.

One other downside is it's right on a main road so a few of the holes have cars constantly zooming by. All that said I would definitely go back, and had a great time.

Course was challenging due to water and marsh hazards. Greens were poorly maintained and fairways had many unrepaired divots
