Great course, lots of fun. Plan on the course being busy. I have not found pace to be a problem, but there are a couple of blind tees so be careful before you tee off

The immature starters will hassle you if you can't play a round in 4 hours, even if there is no backup behind you. Even 4:10 is not fast enough. So you pay around 30-40 bucks to be hassled by dudes on a power trip. It's not worth your time. All they care about is making profits from power carts. They even try getting 5 bucks for an egg sandwich. Unbelievable.

Had a 3 o'clock tee time, didn't tee off until 3:20. They were running out of golf carts. Waited on every hole. Could not get a full round in before dark. Not worth the money.

I admit I was not overly excited about playing a public course so close to the city. I knew it was going to be packed (and it was). I have to say though...the course was tough. It is a challenge. steep sloping, narrow fairways demand precision shots. We were always waiting at every tee box but it moved along. I was very impressed with the maintenance of the greens. They were better then a lot of private courses. Expect to hear people yelling "four" alot! One slight push or pull could put your ball in another fairway. No BEER! Huge dissapointment! It is a dry course! Bring a small cooler! A lot of beginners on a course that isnt tailored to beginners at all. That seems to be the main problem with playing speed. More lost balls than normal. Overall a fun course. A definite challenge. Cant beat the price and if you improve your score at this course, it will definitely make you look like a star at other courses. I will be back.

This course is a great value! Good mix of some really tough holes and some not-so tough holes.

This course it like 2 minutes from my apartment, so i tend to play here more often than anywhere else. This is a shorter course, but it does have some challenging holes. The club house is nice, and the snack bar has some really good food. My only beef at this course is that there is a par 4 that you aren't allowed to use a driver on. So rediculous. I do enjoy that they open early in the season though. I would recommend this course to everyone.

Overall this was a nice golf course. It's very short and the holes are really crammed together, but an abundance of trees at least helps catch most wayward shots from beaming people on the next hole.

The course conditions were decent and the elevation changes kept things interesting. I did find the course staff a bit moody and snappy, but other than that I had an enjoyable visit.

I don't agree with the popular opinion. I love golf and thought I lucked out when I moved into the condos right behind this course. I was wrong.

It feels like Newton had a small patch of land and didn't know what to do with it so they tried to cram a golf course into it. You aren't allowed to drive to a 270 or something yard par 4 because the club house is right next to it and the course is usually over run with rowdy college kids. The course wasn't in very good shape when I played it and I felt that the staff was very short and snappy. The club professional had a fat cigar in his mouth as he hit a myriad of golf balls marked PRO off the 1st tee when no groups were teeing off.

I spent my youth as a caddy here in the 60's when it was a private club, Chestnut Hill Country Club. VERY HILLY! Classic Donald Ross course, not very long but will test your mettle. Recent improvements have helped greatly. When I took up the game again a few years ago after a 30 year "vacation" ago and thought I had enough game to attack 18, I came here. Lasted 'til the 14th hole and quit! Leave your driver in the bag for most of the course and THINK! That's what "The Donald" had in mind. Watch out for the flock of wild turkeys who wander through the place-not a joke!

It's pretty early in the fall to be playing by winter rules, but other than that the course is a great value. After all, it is a municipal course.

A tricky little course. The front 9 are almost all on a slant, so tee placement is a must. A drive down the middle might end up in the woods. Rough is pretty long in places and can make holes a lot longer than they read.
A very hilly course--especially the final few holes--so take a cart if you're not in top shape.
The greens are usually very fast and very difficult--many saddle-shaped greens.
Great bang for your buck though--and they have very good college and resident rates.

Plan on a cart rental

Play on this Hillside course can be a killer on the legs espcially the last 3. So take a cart if you're not in shape. This course is tight in the fairways and very sloped so it can be challenging even though its short on yardage.
