The course appears to be a very old style links course. The weather was very windy, approximately 40 per mile winds. Many of the holes have stone walls which cross the fairways. The price was reasonable; however, the course could use some conditioning improvements. The tee boxes were in poor condition, the drainage is poor; yet, the greens were o.k.
Hole#4, a par 5 is only 460 yards, and it took 3 perfect shots to reach the green with the wind conditions. An hole #6, the #1 handicap hole, a 430 yard par 4 was impossible to reach in two! It appears to be a beginners course, but it is far from it.

I played this golf course this weekend and had a great time. The course is over 100 years old and is a George Thomas design. For a "shorter" course it is very challenging. You pretty much never use the same club twice. For the money you will not find a better course or a course that will make you better player like MGC. Thanks again to Bruce Carlson for giving me the tour and the history lesson.

i play this course quite a bit its cheap you never have to wait & you can score easy on this course also there open year round a couple par 3 one long par 5 theres walls on alot of holes which is pretty cool no water hazzerds & each hole is wide open so for 9 holes you should score between 36 - 45 for a great day then head to the mattipoisit chowder house for a great meal & brews.

OK-the story,,,the course is rumored to be designed by George Thomas Jr., Riverira & Los Angeolos CC fame. 1st time I played it I couldn't believe it had such a high rating of 121 for a 9 holer, 'til I saw the 2nd hole! Nearly every hole has a stone wall across the fairway with a sand bunker built into it's side. This is REAL, classic golf! The 6th hole into the wind of Buzzard's Bay will test your mettle for a a 430+ yd. par 4.

This course is well worth the 23 dollars it costs to play 18. It provides open fairways to break out the driver and some interesting hazards to make iron shots more difficult. The 9 holes do not change very much from white to blue; however, the second time around gives players a better knowledge of ball placement.
