35 par | 3,080 yards
The 9-hole "Greenock" course at the Greenock Country Club facility in Lee, Massachusetts features 3,080 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 35. Designed by Donald J. Ross, ASGCA, the Greenock golf course opened in 1927.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. RIP OFF.The locals are truly pathetic at this old smelly wasteland for geezers. In all my years of golf I have never experienced such RUDE EMPLOYEES. The Club "Professional" is part of the problem at this declining dump. I feel sorry for the once proud members who built this course. The current members have ruined a potentially beautiful place. My family from NY and CT meet to play a round of 18 every summer (despite our busy schedules) and this year we unfortunately chose Greenock. After securing a tee time, driving 3 hours to play, and finishing 9 holes, we were told *NOT BY EMPLOYEES, BUT BY FEEBLE ANCIENT MEMBERS, that we could not finish our round and had to leave. WE paid for 18 holes WITH CARTS, and were sent away, BEING THREATENED WITH VIOLENCE BY ONE OLD MEMBER. There was no need for threats of fighting, or a need for these members to overstep their authority, which they have none. We left, and we will be contacting the BBB to register a complaint. If you smell like mothballs and have a temper problem, this is probably the Country Club for you.
Went and visited Greenock just last week, was pleasantly surprised at how much there was to do. The golf was awsome, well I should say the course was, I was not but nothing new. Stayed at the express inn Greenock. Went shopping in The Oak Mall is a mall with 80 shops. Clothes shops, book shops, travel agencies..... You will find them in the Oakmall. It's really great to walk around. When we were in town the tall ship Prince William was moored up. Officially called a brig the ship was only built in 2001 at a cost of £5.5 million. Pretty impressed and would go back any day. Hopfully redeem myself at the golf :-).
A true gem of a golf course in western MA. Very friendly staff made for fast 18 and enjoyable day.
Welcome to the "Fenway Park of golf"! This course has been loving restored to Donald Ross' original specs. Though only 9 holes, it has ALL of the hallmarks of the great man's more famous courses-raised tees and greens, pot bunkers stategically placed and a challenging layout. More than reasonibilty priced and nestled in the heart of the Berkshire Mts, one can not help but enjoy golf has it was meant to be played. For ALL levels of play. Nice clubhouse with great food and a beautiful overlook of the entire course. Do yourself a favour when traveling to or from Boston, stop off at Exit 2 on the MA pike, less than 2 miles in the center of town.
