Absolutely loved it! If you like to play elevated tees and greens then this course is a must play. The greens are very well maintained. Private club conditions and upkeep. I played on a damp day and the greens were quick. I could only imagine a dry summer day! The staff at South Shore are incredible. I showed up there at 6am hoping to go out with no tee time. They started me on the back and I got off the 1st tee for my back nine at 8:00am! Great service, great golf, contemplating membership for next year. A must play for any golfers in the Boston area.

Well conditioned course, both fairways and greens but there is a lot of things I don't like and probably won't be going back.
1. very difficult to walk, very, very hilly.
2. lost of elevated greens, sloping from back to front, land short and it rolls 30 yards back, very difficult chips from left or right side of green.
3. very difficult greens, expect a lot of 5 to 7 foot breaks
4. crappy driving range, old mats, range is no where near the clubhouse. There is a huge marsh right in the middle of the range, with a huge net in front of the marsh. Don't know why they stuck a range there.
5. 50 something to walk, almost 70 to ride, over priced in my opinion.
So you can pretty much see I wasn't happy with my experience there. I like to have any easy walk when I play. I like to get a good value for my money. Most golfers shoot higher than 90 and this course, you will shoot 6-7 strokes higher. Golf is already hard enough. I don't need to play a course the tortures the player.

What a difference

I played this course the first week in May. It is in better shape than it has been in years. The pro shop has had a facelift as has the grill room. The trees this time of year are simply beautiful. The new super is doing wonders for the place. As far as amenities, how can you beat a pool, bowling alley, tennis courts, banquet facility, ample parking, locker rooms that have showers, practice facility that includes greens, range, short game and bunker, reasonably priced 19th hole and patio/benches overlooking the course? At a public course?!
The only real knock on tis place is the same as it's been for years; it's hilly. Go play it.

Good course if you don't mind a lot of hills.

I should know due to the fact that I was part of thier grounds crew in high school. It is a great course but can be tricky if you fly greens at times. Hole 2 for example doesnt look so bad but if you fly it you will be about 15 ft below the level of the green. Greens are usually in great condition and the amenities are very nice.
