This little Donald Ross muni features his famous chocolate drop grass mounds on several holes greenside, but not his domed greens a la Pinehurst No. 2. Low scores are very possible here. Good learner course.

The guy working the shop was a cranky jerk. He wouldn't let me rent a pull cart at 2:45pm to be back by 4:45pm. It's 9 holes, flat and not challenging. I won't be back anytime soon if ever.

Reviewed June 23, 2008

Poorly maintained with some of the worst greens around. Slow play and city surroundings make it difficult to enjoy.

Fun course if you go at an off-time. Other than that, you have to golf around people that have never golfed before, which means you'll be ducking quite often. Don't expect to play nine holes fast if you come after 5:00 pm or on the weekends. It's kept in good shape, but the putting green is a joke.

Very attractive old style Donald Ross course in the heart of the city. Very well maintained for a muni with such a high rate of play. Good pro shop. Jogger/dog walking path is a distraction on a few holes but worth the extra $$ to play golf as it should be played!

Agree with all reviews below. Nice little course, well maintained, and a few of the holes are interesting. The two par 5s are straight shots and a little short.
Overall, great little city course, and NOT the scruffy type of thing you'd expect to see right in the city. Try to go at off hours.

Great course nearby the city although play in the afternoons/early evening gets pretty slow.

I enjoyed playing this course in high school.

It was a pretty easy course with a nice view of the river. It is definately enjoyable and is a Donald Ross layout so its not too bad. One of my most memorable golf moments was at this course. I was the last group in a tournament against a local high school to come in. On the last hole both teams stand around the green and watch everyone coming in. I hit a terrific drive right in the middle of the fairway. This prompted me to try it again. I kept the driver out and drove the green to within 4 feet of the hole. I walked up to the smiles of all my teammates and my coach. I then knocked it in for eagle infront of a decent little gallery.

Great city course

If you need a quick golf fix. This place is great for local Bostonians. The scenery and nice fairways make Fresh Pond a nice place to play. Weekends can be slow, call ahead to see how long the wait is. Its first come fist serve.

Five minutes from where I work, which covers a multitude of sins!

The course makes great use of the limited amount of land it has to work with. Not the most challenging course you will encounter, but you end up with a lot of different shots.
