Course Reviews

Hands down best bargain in central Illinois. Grew up playing the course and I fall more in love with it each round. The improvements to the course are wonderful and they now do have alcoholic beverages for those interested. The guys that run the course have been doing a great job for years and it is truly a class act. If anyone is anywhere near the area and is looking for fun, challenging (yet very fair) golfing experience, go to Lick Creek. Trust me, you won't be disapointed.

Awesome course in Central Il but golflinks listing for the description is wrong. It's not a rye grass course its all been changed to Bentgrass tees fairways and greens as of 2006. They might wanna get that one right as it does make a difference ya know. Awesome course but get ready for an entire uphill challenge. theres over 7000yards here and trust me you want to pay for the cart. Nice long drives here and choose your irons very carefully. In the Pekin Park District so the price is reasonable for such an enjoyable experience.

The best course in central il for the price ; beautiful course with mature trees ; very challanging and need accurate driving to score

one of the toughest/best layouts around. But all the tee boxes are covered in weeds for some reason. I don't know if they replaced the tee boxes last year, but it looks like they really need to do it now. the greens are really nice, can be fast and some down hill putts are close to being impossible.
Great price for the course, they just need to pay more attention to keep the upkeep of the course.

Changes in 2006 make this one awesome course! I love the new fairway grass and the greens are playing awesome. I would definetly say this course should be in the top 100 public courses for sure!

The changes made in 2006 have taken hold and Lick Creek may have regained it's position as the best course in the area. You must hit staight off the tee box to score well. The fairways and greens are in excellent shape. And the greens are picking up speed. Best vaule in the area by far.

Regular golfer

Great course.

Could be better: maintenance workers usually act like golfers should wait for them to finish, instead of vice versa; proshop adult workers answer and talk on phone instead of putting on hold and helping in-person, paying customers; adult proshop workers can be sarcastic to legitimate questions from paying golfers; routine course maintenance not done in timely manner (i.e.--clumped grass clippings on fairways and greens, fallen tree limbs on paths, etc.); sprinkler heads chronically leak; holes dug around course for sprinkler maintenance are usually not marked and dangerous for drivers and walkers; starter not on duty during some busy times.

Switching to bent grass in the fall of 2006.

No booze sold or allowed on course, despite what you see in the garbage cans on each tee box.

That being said, the course is decent and very difficult for the average, below-average golfer and is challenging to the above average golfer, especially from the blue tee box. Best value-to-course in Peoria/Bloomington area.

Superintendant is usually around and working to better course.

Hard course

You can get into a lot of trouble on this course. HIT IT STRAIGHT OR YOU ARE GOING TO TAKE ALOT OF EXTRA STROKES. Hard course, havent played it as much, but the front nine will have more trouble to get into and is harder. Im releaved when i get to the back nine, though i think it might be longer. I love playing this course.
